Plasti Dip Rims

So I am thinking about Black Rims but I really like the style of my factory rims. I have heard about plasti dip from some people I work with and was wondering if plasti dip is a good choice for your rims. Does it look good for a decent amount of time? Does it actually last more than a couple weeks? Does it damage the rims? Do I need to remove the tires to put it on? Is there anything I need to be careful of when putting it on?

Thanks for any and all responses!

There is a thread about it...seems most people who do it really like how it turns out.

I did mine back in May, and they look great still. I'll probably touch them up at some point over the winter, but it's not a hard thing to do. It also peels right off, no damage to the rims

I think im in the minority here, but heres my take. I Plasticrapped...i mean plastidipped my wheels about 2 months ago. they looked ok after i did them. after 2 weeks they began to peel a bit in the corners. I would never do it again. I dont know what I was thinkin using a 5 dollar can of spray that is used to coat tools to paint my wheels. Bottom line its a 40 k car, I will spend the 400 soon to have them powdercoated. Good luck either way man just my opinion. If u do it, take them off the car, clean and mask really well and take ur time.

So basically your handy work was garbage and you blame it on the paint. Nice.

i think its a cool idea for the following reasons. You may not like the black look and you can easily remove it yourself. Once you go for powdercoat and the wheels get sand blasted the finish is gone and having cast wheels powdercoated multiple times just weakens the pores of the casted wheel.

i havent seen this plasti dip on rims yet but i think for a short term thing to do just to see if you love it or hate it look then go for it and if you do love it then fork up the money to have them painted or powdercoated.
