Question Replacing the trunk weather stripping channel

My friend and I were moving some hardware to his house and one of the things we had to move was a 100lbs. lo-pro floor jack. I'm not the strongest of people so I asked for his help in getting the jack into the trunk. So, as we're lifting the jack into the trunk my friend accidentally lets one of the jack's wheels nip the edge of the trunk weather stripping channel/frame/whatever you want to call it. I subsequently removed the weather stripping to check for a dent, but thankfully it would appear as though I got lucky. I even posted a picture of the area in question so you guys can see what I'm talking about.

This, however, got me thinking. If any such damage occurred to the channel, how would you go about replacing it? I've seen on some sites that a person will either use new materials to mimic its shape, or cut off the required area from a donor car. Can you do this for these cars? Thanks. Btw, here's my trunk with the stripping removed so you can see what I'm talking about:

I would try to bend it out as straight as possible using the widest jaw vise grips that I can find. Use several pairs so that you can twist the damaged lip while not comprimising the good around it. After that you should be able to put in a new strip of weatherstripping and be good. Now if that dosent work.....let the shit show begin, you wont HAVE to use a donor car but rather the same grade metal, then it's cut shave and tig/mig weld in a new piece. This is not an easy task and not in the best place to be welding.

Yea, that's what I was thinking. Thank God I don't actually have to fix it.
