Just get a battery tender and hock it up. It will keep the battery charged. Disconnecting the battery won't keep it charged.

I rent a storage unit for winter storage so I won't be able to keep a trickle charger on it. I'm not concerned with keeping it charged, I'm just not sure if leaving it hooked up for 4-5 mos will drain any significant amount of juice. It won't be started at all. I've heard of people disconnecting the neg & some doing both.

There is parasitic drain which will discharge the battery over the course of 4 months. Disconnect the negative.

Get a trickle charger that way it'll stay up and be ready when you're ready to start back up in spring.

I believe the owner's manual says to disconnet the negative if the car will be stored for more than a month.

Take the battery out and put on a charger. A discharged battery will freeze. A frozen battery will leak acid and cause damage. Five months is a long time.

If and when you take off the negative terminal, then put on a "battery disconnect" device that has a green knob and you turn the knob to disconnect the circuit in the future....when my car sits longer than a month I disconnect it, and for the winter I put on a battery tender type product plugged in...good luck
