Between my bf's hemi Charger and my SS, gas is a killer!! His gets about 17mpg and mine is a lil less then that. Mines in the break-in phase (just hit 1300 miles) so Im hoping it gets a lil better soon but damn! $500 bucks a month on gas sux. Oh well I guess the fun we have in them is worth it

Its a small price to pay for the fun and freedom you and your bf are enjoying! Your mileage should go up a bit in a few thousand miles anyhow. I use nearly $1000.00 a month in fuel commuting to work. It really sucks but a choice I made.

I at one point was up to around 600-800 a month on my V6. My commute was 114 miles round trip. Plus the millage of my personal life after work. Also my wife enjoyed seeing her parents frequently about 70 miles away so that added to the cost.

We dont drive far. His commute is about 25 miles one way. And mine is maybe 30 miles a day regularly. Seems like a lot for not much driving.

It all adds up, although you are probably driving a lot more than you think. Your commute and your BF commute adds up to 1600 miles a month and @ 17 mpg you should be using less than 100 gallons per month. With premium fuel it should be less than $400.00 a month, probably closer to $350.00. Can you carpool together?

$500 a month should net you over 2400 miles a month @ 17mpg depending on your fuel costs. Premium is about $3.50 here.

You should have to fit the fuel bill for 18 trucks and seven cars. Four of which are diesels.

Got average of 22mpg on the last tank in my SS, but that included a 143mph bit and a big climb back up from PHX, so I'm expecting a bit better this time. This is with me generally driving "efficiently", which I do so I can afford to drive "non-efficiently" at times. It is possible to get decent milege knowing the correct shift points and generally giving it some thought.

I also have two V8's.....my SS,and my Silverado VortecMAX 6-liter.
I average about 17/18 in the SS,and only around 15/16 in the truck.
However neither one are daily drivers,my SS is strictly a "play toy",and the Silverado is my NASCAR trip "travel vehicle".
My daily driver (aka-work car/winter beater) is my '02 Saturn SC2,it gets 33/34 back and forth to work!!
