Stuck gas pedal due to floor mat.

While driving, I fully pressed the gas pedal to the floor and it didnt come back up. I then started mashing it but to no avail. I had to turn the ignition off and glide to the layby, and finally work on the gas pedal till it came back up. I took off again and stopped at a gas station and killed the car. I floored it and it stuck again. It was sticking on my aftermarket floor mats that I'd layed over the originals. Just letting you know to be careful with extra floor mats.

The thing with a Camaro is they would totally go faster than a Prius

Your lucky you were able to stop. Thought there was going to be a prius story

When i got my custom lloyd's mats, there was some paper saying DO NOT place over existing mats. I bet this is why.

I'm sorry to hear you had this issue, but why would you use two sets of floormats? The hook that comes on the floor of the ****pits is only high enough to hold one set of floormats down, so it doesn't suprise me that a second layer of floormats would move around freely.

Try using the aftermarket mats to REPLACE your OEM mats instead of LAY ON TOP OF them. That should fix your problem.

I never heard of putting mats on mats until people started having problems with toyotas. Why would you do that?

I think some people have what I like to call "the crappy carpet over carpet floormats" and they thrown the aftermarket all-weather ones on top of them.

Why not remove the crappy carpet floormats and just have the crappy carpet with all weather one mats.

glad to hear you had the common sense to turn off the ignition when this happened, unfortunately common sense doesn't seem to be too common anymore

I've had cars in the shop with 5, yes, FIVE layers of floormats. When I try to warn them of the danger in this, they just say "It's my car and I want them in there"
