Dash Cuts out while driving - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hi I have tried the search function and have not been able to find anything directly pertaining to my issue. My problem is that my dash will cut off and turn itself back on while im driving. It does this mainly at night or early in the morning. It just got cold here in the last week or so and my problem has been going on for about 2 weeks now. My car has no issue starting and it does not actually cut off. When I look at the DIC and my headlights they seem to be flickering a little bit at night. Any ideas? Thanks

You most likely have a bad electrical connection.
Time for a dealer visit.

Yeah still at the dealer. They have me in a rental, a cobalt

, hopefully will have more info tomorrow. The good news is the tech was able to drive it an reproduce my issue.

sounds like you just have a loose connection.dealer should fix that quick.

If not a loose conenction, which should be easy to fix, it could be a cold solder connection on the main instrument panel board. When components are not fully soldered correctly a cold solder joint exists. When the temp is cold the connection to that component is not very good making it go on then off. Once everything is warmed up the solder joint makes a better connection and things work as they should until it gets cold again. Electronic technician for over 30 years. Ask the tech about the possibilities of that occuring. Only way to tell is swap out the instrument cluster and see if it still does it. Good luck and let us know what they find.

Got my car back earlier, the issue was with the throttle bodies apparently. Service advisor said there was an unknown substance from the factory that caused the issue.

I just said ok and left. I'm just glad everything is ok now.

I would like to know how the throttle body had anything to do with the dash cutting out?

I sure would to. The service advisors face made me immediately think

He mine as well said "I had a unicorn in my engine". Only thing I can say is that my car is fixed. The dash would cut out when i would accelerate. When sitting still it wouldn't do it. Not really sure on how the throttle body is setup but I'm sure there is a connector on it and I gather it was an issue with it.
