GM locking gas cap Update with pics
I went in today and picked up my gas cap and I noticed that it has to be " coded ", so I was wondering if anybody has done this themselves. GM was more then willing to do it but it was 50 bucks so I said screw that lol
...any tips or things to watch out for and was it hard to do? There are 50 of those tumblers(little clips in the bags) and I believe only 5 are used... Last edited by Supersport2011L99; 01-11-2012 at 05:12 PM. Reason: update |

coded? Umm the one I have just has a key on it.

yea you have to insert these plates into the lock and it forms to your key

You just bought yourself an ugly Rubix cube (dear god, I just dated myself...if you don't know what that is, look it up). If you want to solve the puzzle, pay the dealer $50 to code it for you.

lol it's crazy, I like how I can use my car key to open it but god damn this thing is very confusing and the instructions are pretty hard to interpret, if no one here had any experience with this then I will have to pay the 50 - thanks in advance guys

Those are an absolute pain in the ass to put together if you've never done one before!
I bought a keyed to ignition locking gas cap for my Jeep and was going to put it together myself but I gave up after about 40 minutes of fumbling around and dropping pieces all over the floor. I took it back to the dealership and the lady at the parts counter had it put together in about 5 minutes
