You should have watched the Nationwide race yesterday. Then you would have noticed the pace ''cars'' were just Dodge trucks (Zzzzz)... 'Hope today's race is a good one though. That track is so fast.

that finish was insane...I hope all the fans are ok...this will cause a lot of debate on safety now....I just hope they don't effect the racing!!! that was some of the best racing I have seen at a track and i've been to about 6-7..

awesome finish, Nascar needs to get rid of that dumb yellow line rule or stuff like that wouldn't happen at the end. For safty reasons i think they should get rid of it.

I've been to Talladega and atlanta...I agree the yellow line rule is not a very safe rule for those superspeedways...if they have room to go low..let them go!

On t.v. they (commentators) said the catch fence did it's job, and they don't think any debris went into the stands. Were they watching the same race? Did they see the same replays as everyone else? I saw debris go through the chainlink fence, don't know how far it travelled, but the fence was a mess.
I think they down played it to save their own jobs, and say how safe the sport is. I'm a semi-diehard Nascar fan, but you have to face reality when it happens. I agree the safety barriers have helped a lot over the past couple of years, but there is still work to be done about fencing, not to mention the motorhomes on the infield.

Gimme a break. The fence did do its job and no matter what sport you can go to spectate, there are safety concerns.

I was at the race also, Edwards' car hit the fence directly in front of us. We were not hurt because we were in the upper section. Here are a few pics of the fence after wreck as seen from my seats....

I'm not a huge diehard Nascar fan (moreso just a fan that will watch it if I'm flipping through and it's on). Why do they have restrictor plates in the cars? Doesn't that mean that more cars will be closer together? Taking the plates off would allow the better drivers to get away from the pack. (Granted, I understand that the last collision was only between two cars...but if that plate wasn't on...those two cars may not have been as close together as they were.)

Yeah accept for the fact that they will catch air just from the speeds they would be traveling. Without restrictor plates they would be well over 230mph.
