CAGS WASTES GAS!!

CAGS is put on all Camaro, 6 Speeds to get more Miles Per Gallon. I think it works exactly the opposite! Let's face it, CAGS is a PITA to us guys with 6 speeds. Here are your options. 1. Get a CAGS killer and get rid of CAGS. (I have one and will be installing this summer) 2. Shift at a lower RPM so the CAGS doesn't kick in. (drive like an old lady) 3. Go over the RPM range so the CAGS is over ridden and doesn't kick in. (this is what I do most of the time), AND THIS BURNS MORE GAS!! This is exactly the opposite of what the intent of CAGS is, right? Its to bad the Government tries to shift for us and get us to save gas because this CAGS thing just doesn't work to save gas, it really makes us burn more gas, IMO!!

Um...No....

1.)CAGS saved you from a gas guzzler tax.
2.)Its easily defeat able with a $20 plug.
3.)If you shift when it tells you instead of avoiding it then you SAVE gas. Thats it's intended purpose.
4.)It takes 10 minutes to put a skip shift eliminator in.

and keep in mind that the reason it makes you skip 2nd and 3rd is the same how an automatic transmission car will not always go thru every single gear, but will jump up to 3rd or 4th in order to increase efficiency when taking off from a stop then leveling out at a typical road speed ~35-45mph.

This isn't just a Camaro thing. The Corvette has it also.
And as stated, it does work if you use it as intended.
But most (myself included) bypass it.
But CAGS allowed these cars to pass government fuel economy tests without having to endure a gas guzzler tax.

When CAGS come up and you shift to fourth it lugs the crap out of the engine. I can't see that being a good thing especially the manual specifically states not to lug the engine.

I never have CAGS kick in. Never. I don't have the CAGS eliminator either. This is so easy to defeat it is a non issue. It saves the gas guzzler tax so it's done it's job.

Until I read this post, I was wondering if I was the only one not having an issue with CAGS. Granted, I only have 1,400 miles on my new '12 SS, but CAGS has only engaged on me twice. I forgot it's even there.

$2000 gas guzzler tax or $20 Skip Shift Eliminator? I will take the Skip Shift Eliminator 100% of the time.

It shouldn't and doesn't lug the engine. Well unless your going up a hill and you let CAGS engage - though that would probably be your own fault for not accelerating faster.
