Thumbs up VMAX Black ICE-olator 1st impression

I had this installed on Saturday (at the Carmaro rally, thanks Tracy, RX) and immediately did a fuse pull to reset the computer. I didn’t really get a chance to test out the feel of the car until my ride to work this morning as I was only 5 mintues from the show.

Anyway my ride in the morning is about 19 miles, all of which is rural/city but I do have a few places I can open it up a bit. It was a cool 51 degrees here in Orlando this morning and I drove in sport mode (not tap shift mode) as I always do. The 1st few miles were uneventful, the only thing I noticed was some weird shift points, and I’ll attribute this to the fuse pull and the computer relearning.

Once I hit mile 10 I had some places I was able to open it up a bit and I can without a doubt in my mind say I felt a difference. I felt a pull in the car I never felt before once I hit about 3K rpm. It was almost like the car was connected to some kind of pulley, I actually backed off the gas as it caught me by such surprise. I opened it up again and this time was prepared and let it go, I swear I heard my tires chirped when it shifted from 3 to 4. Gas mileage was the same 21.5mpg, but considering I had 3-4 good runs that was quite impressive. When I got to work I felt the IM and it was cool, minutes later it did heat up but I am told this is normal.

I’ll do more testing later today (my ride home is mostly hwy) but so far I am quite impressed with what I have felt so far.

As a note, for those with the GM stut bar this will fit with no issues even with the engine cover on!

Edit: I forgot to mention, I did not port match.

Guys I have a question. My car is going in warranty work on heated seats and now a new buzzing sound that came out of nowhere. I know I should wait before I do this but I really want to put the isolator in. I wonder if they would even notice it there

IMO they would have to be looking for it to notice it, I see no reason not to install it! I could almost guarantee if they are not looking for it, there is no way they’d notice it. Beside there is a good chance your car will be back at the dealer at some point anyway and will be on there.

It isn't easily noticable, but if you are doing the work soon you might want to hold off just to be on the safe side. Definately won't affect your seat warranty, but not sure what the buzzing noise is.

Glad to see the review and you are enjoying the results, I have to admit I am still smiling and it has been a few weeks!!

Lol don't worry man! heated seats have nothing to do with your insulator. Things like that are covered under 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. If it makes you feel any better, I just had my whole tranny rebuilt by GM with all my mods.
