head clearance

So when i bought my 2011 camaro i got the RS package and the sun roof. i am 6'5 - 6'6 and didn't know the sun roof had a lower head clearance. i tested out a hard top and didn't even notice when i got mine its kind of low. Is there any way i can add even an inch more by modifying something?

sunroof is a major difference and I'm 6'2 that's why I didn't think about getting one. I thinks a couple of inches shorter if not an inch. My head was being rubbed like a 5y/o on christmas day from the grandparents.

Yup I am 6'1 and I'd say thats the limit. Make sure you have the seat as low as it will go if you havent tried already

Almost didn't even buy a camaro because all the one's I sat in had sun-roofs...finally found one without it, and it was all the difference in the world...

Only thing I could suggest, move the seat up a little and recline the back...good luck...keep trying, you'll find a spot, might not be ideal, but
...good luck with it.

If undoable, take it back and complain!!! Might be able to change your mind, if its not too late!!!(Sort of false advertising in my opinion, if they don't tell you the clearance is less with the sun-roof)

I normally lean to my right when i drive so my head is under the sun roof which isn't to bad the only time its actually bad is when i try and sit up straight in the seat. only downfall is not being able to see over hood while leaned back but i can cope. thought maybe altering the seat track some how. so frustrated ><

On other car forums I have seen this question raised... sometimes it is possible to shave some foam out of the seat, or fabricate lower seat rails or anchors.

If you want the space badly enough you could install a racing seat. But without the old seat wiring you'd probably end up with a glowing light on the dash, and who knows if the airbag would work right. Major warranty voidage.

I tried sitting in ones with the sunroof and I noticed my head would touch it as well but I am only 6'' tall, I adjusted the seat and found that I could fit comfortably in one with a sunroof but it cost me visual clearance over the hood, so I went with a hard top /no sunroof and I dont regret it one bit. Comfort is important to me because I drive a lot and I really hate the idea of compromising my seating position just so I can have a sun roof, besides that I feel the sunroof ruins the roofline. But to each their own.

I have a sunroof but I'm 5'9" so the clearance wasn't really an issue. Wearing a helmet is rough in there though so as far as track events, I feel your pain.

I've heard rumor that surgical removal of an inch or two of the boney structure just below the C5 vertabrae to shorten the neck helps..........keeping the C5 intact is important, otherwise you'd completely forget why you needed more room for head clearance.

I've also heard that a shortened hair style............helps too.
