Blown cars that have removed the cats, any boost drop?

I`ve read where a lot of people are worried about cats coming apart on boosted cars, I know a few mustang guys that have had this happen, could be the tune whatever, regardless of the reason do we know if there is a boost drop by removing the high flow cats to an offroad pipe?

so boost stayed the same, thats cool, thought it might drop a little, but then again, our high flow cats are pretty free flowing these days.

It may drop a pound but probably not even that. I had headers and catless midpipe installed and tuned on my vette recently and it only lost a pound of boost. I'm perfectly happy with that cause it just means its making the power more efficiently.

I need to remove mine. I think it's the cause of my having too much boost(13lbs) on a 3.9 pulley

Mine melted awhile back. No change in boost level though with straight pipes.

Like it or Not Boost Drop is a Good Thing, it means your moving air through the engine more efficiently.

Ted.

Oh, I know Ted, just seeing if I might need a smaller pulley....

Are you seeing a boost drop when removing the cats or your setups Ted?

Did you have high flow cats or factory cats? If aftermarket what brand?

GMRULZ,

It seems like a lot of folks are getting spooled up over this like the gear issues. That turned out to be related a lot of times to improper install. I think this cat issue may be along the same line. How are ADM, Jannetty, and Lingenfelter holding up? A tune that's too rich will foul the cats over time won't it?

Yeah, if the cats are working over time they may go bad, I`m not really that worried about mine, of course an ounce of prevention might be a good thing, moreso I was deciding if I should remove them and drop a pulley size trying to calculate if there was any boost drop form the cat delete and if so how much. The other thread i have going is about 10lbs boost not meth no knock, I guess I could have merged them but they get more specific replies when seperate.
