Auto vs. Manual- Question
I have a 2011 Camaro Convertable, my question is, what is the difference in the engines in the manual car and the automatic car. Rated horsepower difference is pretty big, why.

There is a difference of 26 HP ...
The auto has a L99 rated at 400HP with DOD The manual has a LS3 rated at 426 with 1-4 skip shift Both engines are setup to avoid Gas Guzzler tax ...

Basically the reason for the disparity from what I gather is "Pointy cams, less duration, have greater torque at low RPMs but less HP" and other reasons. The Auto runs as a 4 cylinder to save fuel under certain circumstances so I'm told as well *shrug* I'm sure that would involve more 'parts'. Random but the manual does not avoid the gas guzzler tax in Canada :( I'm sure that worries you in Vegas... lol Last edited by powerslave; 04-25-2012 at 01:30 PM. |
