So this could probably make for a whole new thread, as it is a bit , so I'll defer to the mods on whether to move this, but who thinks the RS variant will be an appearance package/trim line (kinda like the LT2 package on other Chevys) and who thinks it will be a slightly enhanced performance package/trim line?

Moved.

IF RS returns...I'm willing to bet it'll be an appearance package.
You know, choose your trim level. (i.e. Sport Coupe, Z28, or convertible versions for example) Then go through any potential option choices. one of them will be the RS appearance package. you get RS badging, and hidden headlights, etc....

At least....that's how I can see it playing out.

I hope it is an appearance package, say hidden headlights, chrome exhaust tips, lip spoiler, special RS stripes and lettering/badging, interior trim, and RS spec wheels. And I'd want it available on any trim line and model except the Z28 (as per tradition).

If it's only an appearance package, hypothetically, how would they separate the V6 options? Would they be a separate feature or included in the RS?

I would say its a good possibility. Maybe not at launch but a year or so later when sales cool off. My guess it that it would be a package offered for the v6 model. Kinda like the pony package for the mustang. They really do spice up the v6 models visually. Im sure they have a few things up their sleeve for down the road to keep the fire lit.

I'm not even sure if it is 100% confirmed we'll have two V6s now. With all the changes to engine expectations, who knows what the plan is now. If RS is only an appearance package, then they'll just roll out other names for actual trim levels, which will denote engine option as well.

I just hope that unlike the Mustang, V6 Camaros with an appearance package don't look just like V8 models. I hope an RS package would include items that don't signify V6 or V8. So I would hope that the RS package wouldn't include things like dual exhaust tips, cowled hood, and hood scoop if those things were otherwise used to differentiate V6 and V8 models.

Yeah...I want some difference between the V6 and V8, but DO want the RS to be available on the V8 package as well.

I think that RS will be an appearance package if there are only 3 engines, or a full trim level if there are 4

I mean, we do need our RS/SS models right? Looks and performance combined into one butt-kicking car.

The RS is a traditional trim or appearance package for the Camaro. It sometimes signifies trim-specific panels or trim-specific motors that have more appeal—more horsepower or just looking cool—than the normal model. RS means Rally Sport.

Rally Sport...what Blur said. For the 4th Gens (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), the RS package simply entailed two lower side skirts, a lower front facia, and a rear skirt. I don't think there was anything performance enhancing about the RS package, though....maybe a free-er flowing exhaust?

I'm hoping that GM creates a great RS package....hideaways, trim, lowering kit maybe, etc...
