Another Pre-Delivery Glitch

As many know my son's ABM 2SS was delivered to our dealer this past Monday. While they wait for the recall parts (they received some but not all) they kept the car parked near the Service Manager’s Office so he could keep an eye on it - cool.

So yesterday I stop by to look at it and inquire about it being ready for it's scheduled delivery TODAY (Wed). First thing I notice is how BIG it is (they had a Z06 parked behind it) - It's BIG.

Second how great ABM looks with the white stripes, high polished wheels and Chasmere interior. They already received several offers to buy it.

But as I'm looking at the interior the gapping hole in the middle of the steering wheel catches my eye. The drivers air bag has been removed. Turns out the car displayed a SERVICE AIR BAG message and when the dealer called Chevrolet they were told "they are aware of this issue and to replace the entire module". They FedEx it and it was supposed to arrive last evening.

Not sure what the statement "they are aware of it" means or how prevalent this is but here's another "glitch".

We are still hoping to take deliver this afternoon - fingers crossed.

I wonder if this is what is holding up the Camaro's that are in QC hold? The rumor I heard was that they were 2SS's.

I seriously want my car.......I even cleaned the garage out for it's arrival!! Patiently waiting since October 14th.....how about you?

I saw your car on Monday in the shop. Tim was nice enough to let me look at it (from afar of course). That thing is SWEET!! I live in Swansea also, so bring it on by!! My wife would love to see it.

I'm sure we can arange to hook up, but late yestrerday they discovered ANOTHER problem. Seems the speedometer is malfuncting and they need to order an entire new IC and install that. According to John the Service Manager (who was called by some VP incharge of a QC Team) this is a major and known issue that is SAFETY related which prevents delivery.

So we await another major component to be FedEx'd.

Our patients is wearing thin. But as soon as my son's can take delivery we'll contact you for a personal tour.

In the sorry state the car is in right now I'm sure folks don't want to see the dash all torn apart.

We'll post pic's as soon as the dealer can fix all the bugs and make delivery.

BTW Jack Schmitt Chevrolet in O' Fallon has been marvelous keeping us informed and not trying to hide anything. It's just the state of the car as it was delivered that is the problem.

Stand by for photo's I can tell you that ABM w/white stripes, high polished wheels and Chasmere interior is STUNNING.

Please include pictures of the interior when you post pics. I haven't seen anything but the black interior and I'm curious of what the other colors will look like.

The ABM is a hot color. I am sorta glad it is going to be rare. Why is it rare? People were afraid to order that color? I dunno. It is going to be the "Damn, should of ordered my Camaro in that color" type color, lol.

I had my car parked at the dealership when I went to pick up my plates. So the car had no plates on it, and I took the 20-day temporary out of the window.

While I was at the receptionist desk, I noticed a couple looking at my car. They came inside and approached one of the salespeople and asked how much is that Camaro outside? I turned around and said, uh that is my car actually. They complimented on the color and decided to order one in that color. I believe they went with a 2LT though.

Anyway, hope you get your car delivered as soon as possible.

sorry about ur misfortune. i'm kinda finding all those issues hard to beleive (maybe ur dealer just wants it on the showroom for awhile)...........

but if true, why is everyone posting every single little issue? then everyone gets mad and thinks GM is producing crap. IT'S A NEW PRODUCTION AND DESIGN!!!!!!! this stuff happens.

but my point is, my 7553 was built on 5/5/09 and at the dealer on 5/20/09. no stops anywhere along the way for IC replacement, or AirBag replacement.......just battery cable recall done.

i looked at the workbench (i have a copy from start to finish with dates)..........right from Oshawa to rail (it sat after rail awaiting truck for awhile), to truck then to dealer...........

There's a thread in the picture section showing ABM w/White Stripes. I'll see if I can find it. It looks really nice though.
