MPG's dropped after adding a CAI??

I recently added a CAI inc intake on my 2011 L99 SS. Before installing it, I was getting close to 22 mpg's on the hwy. After installing my intake, I noticed a slight drop in my mpg's. I thought I was suppose to get better with the CAI? Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? I've seen the threads about the "strong" and "weak" MAF sensors and I have a weak one. Could this be a cause of my problem? Any insight would be appreciated!

No CEL?

MAF in the wrong way? Leaks?

Many MAF issues can force open loop and kill fuel economy but I would expect a CEL.

No CEL's, I'm pretty sure I don't have any leaks and I definitely didn't put the sensor in the wrong way.

Here's the thing, anytime you increase air flow (cai, headers, etc), in order for computer to keep the same Air/Fuel Ratio, it has to increase the amount of gas that enters into the combustion chamber which in turn results in slightly lower MPGs.

When I added my CAI and ported TB I lost about 2 MPG. I got my car tuned and I gained 2 MPG compared to what I had before I started modding. After LT headers, I went back down to what I was with just a CAI and TB.

When this happens it is usually the result of a suddenly heavier right foot. This seems to be another side effect of new mods.

Didn't seem to go down in MPG's after K&N, I noticed after Solo HFC's seem to go down! Prolly could badly use a tune! I'm like you, trying to hold off a little before voiding warranty! I have coated long tubes here I'm dieing to put on and tune! Hard to wait! Still gets pretty good MPG's on highway!

Most likely you're enjoying the intake a little too much . A tune would do wonders for drive ability and help mpg. After your warranty is up feel free to give me a call and ill give you a sweet discount!
