How much body work is too much body work ?
So, my paint guy texted me and asked if I wanted to see a naked Camaro.
Thought it was cool so sharing some pictures. Keep in mind this is a 1LT V-6 Curious, how much it too much ? Not sure I personally would fix it, but then again - I don't own a body shop ! ![]()

They must have gotten this dirt cheap to put all the money into it's resurrection. Too much for me personally.

Actually, the body parts are a lot cheaper than I would have thought. In the Classic Industries catalog (which I'm SURE isn't the cheapest place to buy such stuff) you can get a complete side panel for 409.99, a door shell for 629.99, and a fender for 191.99. The inner rocker panel is 78.99. Labor rates would kill the average customer, but all in all, i can see where a body shop could put a car like that back together with all new GM shetmetal for a few thousand dollars in parts. The use of some used panels and parts which are readily available would make repairs even less expensive.

not as bad as it looks.... Rather have that repair than a rail replacement, which happens more often in light front or rear collisions...

When done... I would probably buy it as it looks like quality work being done on a fairly minimal wreck.
But out-of-pocket costs for the average Joe -cheaper to buy used - IMO Does look like a Dirt-Track race car though or something out of Mad Max Edited original post to add this picture. Was texted to me

This is what the people in the detailing forum describe as burning through the paint I think. Should have used a porter cable, it's more noob friendly.

By the look of the wheels it looks like a LS not a LT Camaro.

Can't remember but believe I saw Aluminum rims on the Passenger side. the blacks may just be temps.. I know it tweaked both rims and tires in the wreck. Just heard from my contact that the shop did not "need" to do the entire side but chose to just to get experience with their new $20k welder !!! |
