2009 Chevrolet Traverse
February 6, 2008
By MARK PHELAN FREE PRESS BUSINESS WRITER CHICAGO -- The 2009 Chevrolet Traverse will boost sales for Chevrolet and General Motors when the midsize crossover goes on sale this fall, said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager at the vehicle’s unveiling this morning at the Chicago Auto Show. “We’re going after the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot with this vehicle,” Peper said. Chevrolet also expects to win buyers from minivans with the seven- or eight-seat Traverse. The Traverse is the fourth member of the growing GM crossover SUV family. The Traverse will feature a new direct-injection version of GM’s 3.6-liter V6 engine that improves power and fuel economy. The engine produces 280 horsepower. GM will build the Traverse at its Spring Hill, Tenn., assembly plant. The Enclave, Acadia and Outlook are built at a Lansing assembly plant. Peper said the Traverse base price will be similar to the Saturn Outlook, which sells for $28,260, and is the least expensive of GM’s three crossover SUVs. Chevrolet expects the Traverse to get 25 m.p.g. in highway driving. http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...1/0/BUSINESS06 http://www.chevrolet.com/traverse/ Photos Courtesy of GM Media |

The rest of the family seems to be getting pretty good reviews so far, and I'm sure that this one will do well.

I really like the layout of the interior. It really does resemble the malibu inside and out. I'm glad GM decided to Direct Inject (DI) these crossovers. I remember reading reviews that said they are a bit underpowered. This boosts that and helps fuel economy. Great job GM.

Chevy is doing a real good job of applying signature design elements across its new models. I like this one. The exterior has just a touch of Enclave in it. Cheers for using a DI engine too.

Loving the interior. Not too shabby on the outside. What it lacks on the outside sure makes up for it on the inside. I'd drive one for the family...sure. Not bad on the price.

It looks like a minivan. The interior is very nice, but why do they bother calling it a crossover if it's just a minivan? When did minivan become such a bad word?

Why is it priced like the Outlook? Is it the same size? That doesn't make sense to me when they have the Acadia. Is this a "fully loaded" price or base?

Damn....months too early....
We just got that Enclave....it's nice. But, I could have waited for this one....saved a little money and gotten more power. The Enclave is 275 horses....sure the Traverse is only 5 more, but probably about $2000-$3000 less money. That price has to be the base MSRP (Saturn's site actually shows the base Outlook's MSRP at $28,995, so expect Chevy's base MSRP to be right at $30K). Nicely optioned, I would expect the Chevy to come in around $35K-$37K. Fully loaded (DVD, nav, etc), you'll be looking at $42-$44K. |

A google search really does work better than c5forum search, anyway, we just traded our 2009 Traverse for an Infinity G37 IPL to park next to the Camaro. This is be my wifes car. We thoroughly enjoyed the Traverse during the 3-1/2 years we had it, and I would recommend it to anyone. We had the LT with leather, with 2 captain front seats followed by 2 matchng captain seats behind, followed by a 3 person bench. All of the second and third row stuff folded down if needed. The vehichle gave us zero problem and was exceptionally utilitarian with grand kids or on a trip with 10 guitars to a trade show.
She just wants back into a smaller sportier car. She felt like a Gerbil driving a school bus Carry on d
