Since it has no bolt on and if you have the V8 (Auto or Manual), 91 is fine. I doubt the car will run significantly better with higher octane. If you have a supercharger that relies on smaller pulleys and superior fuel injectors, that would be a different story. I wouldn't waste money on higher octane fuel. 91 octane is pretty clean. You should also use the manual as the Camaro's Bible, especially if you value that warranty.

I would go with the 95, in the US 93 is available (not everywhere though), so I think it would run best with that. You could run 91 if you want but if the price difference is small go with the 95.

If it isn't tuned to run 95 or 98, you won't see a difference on the butt dyno. You can just run 91 and save a bit of cash, but it won't hurt to use the higher octane.

Higher octane fuel is really only designed to prevent premature combustion (also known as 'knock'). In this way, a higher strung FI engine can be tuned to take advantage of the built in knock prevention and run a more aggressive setup.

There are certain detergents used in some fuels so that they burn cleaner, but it's better to choose your fuel by brand than it is by octane rating (supermarket fuels tend to be filled with additives etc, so I'd rather use a 95RON shell fuel than a 98RON Asda fuel for example. IIRC, US octane ratings are around 5pts lower as you guys use an average of RON and MON, so a UK 95RON would roughly equal a US 91octane fuel.)

In basic terms, you should be fine with a 91 octane fuel. You won't notice any performance increase (other than a placebo effect) as your ECU isn't tuned to take advantage of the higher octane fuel. Hope that helps!

See what the difference between your country's octane rating and that in the US. 91 octane where you're from may not be the same as 91 octane as recommended in the US.

The US uses the average of RON and MON (of which MON is 10pts lower, so RON ratings typically are 5pts higher). The lowest octane fuel we have here is 95RON, then 98RON for ''super'' unleaded. 95RON (UK rating) is the equivalent of the US 91 octane fuel. Your 95 octane fuel is the equivalent of our 98/99RON fuels. Hope that makes sense.

thanks I think we use the average rating as well. my other cars all recommended the 91 in the manual they are ME gulf spec so I think the camaro will be the same.
But just to make sure I'll stick with 95 It wouldn't hurt right especially if the difference is not that much

Not at all, if you don't mind paying the extra, it should run a little cleaner if nothing else. Certainly nothing wrong with playing it on the cautious side just in case.

depends on what octane the manual goes by, is what i do. The guys that go with the super stuff i think are wasting their money. I have seen test and stories go both ways. last thing i saw said that higher octane fuels were a waste of money in most cars.

Can you use 87 or 89 in the V6, or does the manual say to use the higher octane?
