Engine Cover Question

Does anyone know if removing the engine cover can cause problems? Are there any temperature issues for the engine or hood? I would rather see my engine than hide it under plastic (with insulation). Also, I would like to take the plastic over the intake manifold off. Anyone try this yet?

I removed my engine cover the first day I got the car ... I don't think it will cause you any issues (I haven't had any issues).

I have not removed the manifold cover ..

thanks,
Crowley

I'm going to remove the engine cover as soon as I get mine too. I might replace it with Corvette-style rail covers.

shouldnt its just for decoration i beleive. taking it off should make it cooler. Although its not really set up too look good underneath. By friend has a challenger and no cover but everything is laid out nice. I took mine off the camaro to look at it, and stuff its kind of all over the place.

Yea the LS3 and L99 isn't really designed to be without the cover. It is quite ugly but I don't like the look of the factory engine cover so I'll be looking into getting a Corvette engine cover that simply says "Chevrolet".

It won't hurt I run my LT1 without covers.

Get a dress up kit braided hose covers for the heater hoses and various other dress up.

I don't care for the covers I like to see the engine. And in the LS and 1LT.. get rid of it.. cut any dollar you can to compete with the other rwd coupes.

Which is really too bad. IMO, plastic engine covers are just a shortcut around a well-designed engine bay. I know this is a different price range, but Audi does it right on the S5:

No rail covers either. The engine is the best part.

It's not a cadillac.. I am just too old school.

Oh ya, much better. I'm liking the rails, but like Vash I'm a little old school. Just a lot going on that needs cleaned up.

True the SRT engine looks sic - no covers. However the RT looks worse than the SS with covers.
