rough idle

Is anyone experiencing mildly rough idle on their LS3's 6M?

Can't awnser for LS3 but my L99 is very smooth. Wish I could awnser better but heard a LS3 at dealer and it sounded very smooth but they only had it running for maybe 2mins. They turned car on and reved it for me cause I Was buying one but had never heard the V8 run. Had only test drove the V6 which had impressed me. Very good power for V6 but it's no comparison to the V8 but it's nothing to be ashamed of because it was very stought!

From all the post I've read about a rough idle on the LS3 it's the engine and nothing more...

...normal as the LS series engines idle like that...

rough idle

Thanks for your input. I kinda figured it is just an LS3 characteristic due to high compression and whatever cam GM uses. I'll go to my dealer and try one on thier lot....if they have one long enough!

Yep! Love it! Reminds me that it is a muscle car when I feel the lope in the cam. Man, I have missed that!

last night my camaro started missing bad. i pulled over to talk to a friend, when i tried starting car it just turned over wouldn't hit or start. finally after cranking and cranking it started. it run like shit all the way home. was scared i wasn't going to make it home. i just cut the muffllers off. didn't put anything in their place. could heat on the gas tank affect it's properties and make the car hesitate?

if you heated the fuel pump up it could cause it to start failing, and thus not provide enough fuel to the motor.... which would then cause misfiring and hard starting.

he might have the starter wire issue, but that wouldnt account for the car running like crap and misfiring

if it were the starter it wouldnt have turned over repeatedly. sounds like a short or possibly a battery cable very loose. I have seen many comp controlled cars do this when the cable is to loose to keep constant power at the computer

Was it over half a tank? The pumps can overheat if you drive on empty.

And yes it's supposed to shake. It's a high performance American V8. That's a feature you pay for.. the shaking.

I find myself just sitting in the driveway enjoying the rough idling CAM in the LS3, it makes me smile while I sit at stop lights too. Just think of it reminding you of what is really under the hood!
