V6-V8

I have an LT now, would it be possible to put the V8 inside the camaro and get away with paying insurance for a v6? Since the Vin would show it as an LT V6.

Possible, yes. Worth it, no. There is MUCH more that goes into just swapping the engine than you would realize, and you would spend a lot of money and time doing it, probably a lot more than the difference in insurance. Not to mention if you ever go to sell the car, it will be very difficult and most people will shy away from it. On top of that, to do it right, your suspension, drivetrain, and a whole lot of other things would have to be changed in order to have your platform handle the additional power safely. Can it be done, yes anything can be done with enough money. Should you do it and will you save money in the long run, I think its safe saying no.

My general thought would be that if you can afford to make that change, the amount you would save on insurance would not be worth it to you.

Exactly. If you search you can find other threads asking the same thing as you have OP with a lot more detailed info on what all needs to be changed. Transmission, brakes, wheels, rear end, ECM, cooling system, are all things coming to mind.

Supercharge the v6, and get the power of a stock V8.
Or better yet get a v8.

Yeah, why not. Take the hood off and drop in a 454 rat with a 871 blower on top, custom headers with glass packs. May want to put some sponsor decals on the sides too.

From what I have seen on here the insurance isn't much difference between the two. If that is your only reason for swapping engines, it's definately not worth the time and money it will cost you. It's better to trade for a used SS.

haha thanks guys Twin turbo sounds like a good idea but if I add turbos would anything else need to be changed? Such as if swaping v6- for v8?

Not to mention if you get in an accident and the insurance company finds out you put a v8 in it while paying v6 premiums, they very likely could void your insurance if not go after you for insurance fraud.

I think if your serious about adding some power from something like a Turbo set-up or major engine work, you need to call some speed shops and talk to them to get a real idea of what you are getting into. There's a section on this forum dedicated to power adders such as Superchargers and Turbo kits specifically for V6, I'd go there and do some reading.
