My First Track day @Sebring with Trackguys

Hi everyone,

Last Saturday night around 10 pm the wifey asked what we are doing for Memorial Day weekend. I had no plans but she told me there is a track day going on at Sebring which is only 1.5 hrs drive from our house.
I sent an email to Track Guys. Immediately I got an answer that I should show up next morning and join them. So we got up early around 5 am and drove up there. I could not sleep very well, because I was already suuuper nervous since it was my first track day with my 2014 1LE

I have to say I was really suprised how easy the whole process of getting registered was. The guys from "Track Guys" were very organized, they sticked to their schedule and the whole experience was awesome!
Although I was only one of three other GM cars because it was a Mustang dominated event, it was a great day.


So here the tech facts: I did autocross before but I never saw the full potential of the 1LE package so far. Sebring raceway was the opportunity to really see how it behaves when the speed is much higher and you really push the car for 20+ min on the track.
I loved my car before but now I am totally sure to have made the right decision in buying it because it is making so much fun.
Although most of the Stangs were track modified I could keep up with them.

We were staying in the Chalteau Elan - next to the race track. So the wifey was happy in the pool seeing me racing while I was excited on the track.

Back Europe I was driving a Porsche GT3 and it is amazing to see that Chevy was able to build a car for a third of the price which gives people the joy of driving on a race track with a good tech package that is easy to upgrade for even better performance on the track.

So many thanks to Tackguys who did a great job this weekend and to my wifey for the last minute idea to join them.

Very nice! I am going to Sebring July 19 and August 30-31 for an SCCA PDX. It is $150 whit an instructor or $90 if you are approved to ride solo. It includes 4-20 minute sessions. You should come out, I have 10 cars coming in August so far but I'm the only Camaro. I'm trying to lure some Camaros so wee what you can do. The August event is on the full course too!

Great stuff! I've only autocrossed my 1LE and I've enjoyed the car very much. My first track day with this car isn't until August, and I can't wait. I might have to find something sooner.

It will be on dlbracing.com, I will message you when registration opens. They usually open registration about 4 weeks before the event.

I really want to start doing track days. I'm about an hour from Sebring. How do I go about getting started?

Come out to the SCCA PDX July 19-20 event or if you can wait come in August. It is the cheapest way to get on the track for just $150 with an instructor. If you get signed off to drive solo and don't want an instructor the fee is only $90. I plan on going to both events but August will be with about 10-12 friends. All you need is a helmet.
