Going Catless

Tried to research this to no avail.
To all you people who go catless, how does your car pass inspection?

Thanks!

mine passed because there is no inspection.

how I would pass is get my inpsection with cats and then swap them out after that.

how frequent are your inpsections?

If you have headers it will be louder. No headers cat delete will be louder but I do not know how much because I installed headers and pulled the cats off at the same time. Performance gaines I doubt much if any.

With headers yes

I'm actually about to put solo resonators on mine because it's stupid loud.

(Headers, Catless, Corsa Exhaust)

there are also some muffled xpipes from magnaflow or dynomax I think you could try as well. we did one of these on my dad's 502. it will knock down the volume.

if you keep the stock catack you can just wire the flaps closed at all times and really knocks it down to extremely livable. proabably a tad quiter than cat's on with stock flap control.

Thx. I will have the kooks headers but stock exhaust. Plan for now is to keep the cats. I can't justify replacing the exhaust either. Unless it's restrictive. It just sounds great. Now with that said, I am installing the JDP 850 package here soon.

don't run cat's you just burn them up if you drive the car hard. you don't need to replace the stock exhaust. worst case is just apply 12v at all times to the controller and close the flapps if it is too loud.

There's a thread in the DIY section to wire in a 3 way switch for this. Hardest part is figuring out where to put the switch. I have mine setup to be all open, factory, or all closed. Pisses off the neighbors a little less now.

I am still just using my $15 remote relay I bought off amazon to control it. I no longer desire to have "open" at all times so I just have stock and always closed.

I have been thinking about switching it to a 3 position switch in the console. all you have to do is tap into the ground wire for the exhaust relay and have normal, broken connection, strait to ground.

I just went catless last week with the installing of jba mid pipes. Enclosed is a dyno vid with factory exhaust baffle fuse pulled after the install along with upper pulley, injectors, snout & blower porting.

I have driven the car wiht the fuse back in since these mods and mid range torque is dramatically reduced. Just seat of the pants observation. I like both versions however. Very mild to WILD combo now.
