First time in the snow

Well, today was the first time I really got to drive out the ZL1 in the snow. I'm sure some will scold me for driving such a car in the snow, but I plan to drive the car every day unless ground clearance in the snow becomes an issue. I can't fathom letting the car sit and not drive it whenever possible. Anyways, snow started at about 2PM today, here's what she looked like coming out from the office:

The snow only accumulated to 1-2" but the roads were not well cleared at the time. I had no trouble at all getting home (6 mile drive, 15-18 minutes through town). I have 285/40/19 Pirelli Sottozero Serie II all the way around (square setup). The wheels are Advanti Racing Drago 19 x 9.5 all the way around as well. I'm very happy with them after today.

Funniest part of my day was probably the early 20's kid in the passenger seat of a ~2010 Accord coupe that was in the adjacent lane at a stop light. I was a half car behind them at the stop light. They had just rolled past me as I was stopped in line. The kid looked at the car 3 or 4 times with a look on his face of "is that what I think it is? A ZL1 being driven in the snow? How is that possible?" I never got anything like that in 3 1/2 winters of driving my 2LT.

Glad you enjoyed it.. it is - after all - just a car. Snow and salt are not attacking the Mona Lisa...

I look at the pictures and your description and immediately think of a show on the discovery channel and a guy with a weird accent is narrating and gets all excited to see a ZL1 in the snow. "The Zed L1 makes a rare adventure onto the snow covered streets. Sightings usually occur only in the warmer months, this one looks a bit timid, but wait it accelerates nicely from a stop. The thousands of ordinary and mundane cars have blank looks in their faces, while the fear the Zed L 1 puts in their minds during the summertime suddenly come to life again. This fascinating creature has adapted to life in the frozen tundra extraordinarily well."

Sorry couldn't resist

so good to see a ZL1 owner that drives the car!!! Every time I see people selling theirs "2012 with only 3000 miles" makes me sick. The car is badass, DRIVE IT!!!!!!

Winter tires=winter conditions, traction control is your friend. No problem here! Just can't drive it like you stole it...

Glad its working out for you but I would rather be in my 2014 Malibu DD when somebody slides into me. Its sitting on stands next to my other cars that I don't drive in the winter including my 4x4 pick up truck. Zl1 is a 2012 with 1847 mi. I have a bad habit of buying stuff and not using it, really pisses my wife off. Vette and Camaro have never been in the rain. I need to think more like you guys.

X's 2. I'd rather get hit in my 2013 Cruze while out venturing in the snow. Hey, not everybody can afford a 2nd car. Cheers guys!

It's only a car! No different than all the other cars out there just more HP and performance goodies. Runs down the same assembly lines as other that are driven daily! I drive my CTS-V year round and enjoy the hell out of it. I can afford a second car but why, I already pay for for a go fast Fountain speed boat that sits in storage half the year. I say drive it, that's what it's for.

That Australian comment was great. That guy is now deceased. Yeah my 2012 only has 2,967 miles on it. It is my warm weather weekend warrior. I either am driving my 08 Silverado 1500 Z71 (work truck) or my girlfriends Cruze. I have the same problem as Kevlar. I buy stuff, and it has a tendency to sit. I don't care. It is what it is.
