Snow Leopard
So, I know a few of you guys are Mac users, so yeah.
I upgraded to Snow Leopard, and it's noticeably faster, which is nice, but I keep finding myself with more complaints about it than anything. For instance: Apple COMPLETELY destroyed Expose in Snow Leopard. Before windows would retain something resembling relative size and their dimensions would be taken into consideration when scattering the windows on the screen. In Snow Leopard that doesn't happen. It's just a very basic grid. So, if you're copying a file usually when you scatter the windows the copy window gets LARGER. That's valuable screen real-estate that I'd prefer be used for something like my now-microscopic iChat buddy list. If you're going to make things like QuickTime actually real-time in Expose so you can continue viewing the video while doing whatever, make them SIZE RELATIVE! >_<. Maybe it's just me, or the fact that I use Expose almost CONSTANTLY, but this seems like a huge step backwards for OS X's usability. Anyone else want to contribute anything about Snow Leopard?

I got my copy today in the mail. Didn't install it yet. Wanted to hear a bunch of people's experiences with it before I do. I'm having a problem with my regular Leopard OS with installing Software Updates and was thinking about doing an Archive & Install before attempting to install Snow Leopard.

Try loading Linux instead of Snow Leopard. Much better. No proprietary crap. http://lifehacker.com/256395/how-to-...linux-on-a-mac

If the current Macs are running on Snow Leopard, my 1993-or-whatever Mac's running on Arthritic, Dying Housecat.

I have several machines. I run a web server with Fedora Core, a computer I use for film scanning running Windows XP, a vista box, an ubuntu box, etc.
I use my Mac most often, because it's my preference. I'm sure I'll adjust to Snow Leopard, but I just HATE what they've done to Expose, which in my mind is one of the most useful features of Mac OS X. If you do any kind of professional tasks, the upgrade is definitely worth it. I never had issues with Aperture being slow, but previews and such would always take several seconds to load (and with good reason. These aren't cameraphone images we're talking about, but 40-50mb RAW images). Now when I open Aperture previews don't IMMEDIATELY load, but they load faster than I can move my mouse to access them. If you use your computer to bumble about Camaro5, listen to iTunes, and check your e-mail, then I'd say wait for the next revision. One nice thing is Apple doesn't have any software keys or any crap like that for OS X, so if you have a friend that bought it, just borrow their disk. To my knowledge there's no difference between the upgrade disks and the box set disks, except iLife and such isn't packaged with the upgrade.
