New brake fluid

I'm putting in some racing brake fluid before camaro fest. Does anyone now how much fluid I need to replace the old fluid? Any tips? Is it's simple drain and fill?

I am assuming you meant Motul 600 as I do not find a 6000, 660 but no 6000. Question is 4 bottles of this would be about $80 or 2 liter of Castrol SRF is about $120. Worth the extra money?

get the mutol or amsoil.. Which ever one. Dot4.

And Kabooom. Have you used that speed bleeder?
I might grab one for when i send my calipers off to powder coat and get my break lines done.

DOT 3 is minimum brake fluid spec for the car in whatever constitutes "normal driving".

It is not a minimum spec for all driving activities. IOW, while DOT 3 is probably good enough for moderate-speed autocrossing (no high speed stuff), it won't be enough for 20 minute sessions out on a big track where you're braking repeatedly from speeds above 100 mph.

Is it OK to draw out as much as possible with a turkey baster (I do this regularly to keep it fresh) - and add DOT4 ? Does it mix with the remaining DOT3 ? If it does and I do it a couple times I will be mostly DOT 4

Sure. Draw out as much as you can without uncovering any ports, refill (and keep refilling) with the 4, and bleed until clear fluid comes out of each bleed fitting.

You still won't have all of the 3 purged from the ABS HCU, but at least that fluid isn't down at the calipers where all the real heat is going to be. I think the HCU needs access to a Tech II level scan tool that can work with ABS matters to get it purged of its old fluid, although using the brakes all the way into ABS activation has also been claimed to work.

Physically compatible, yes (unlike DOT5, which isn't). But until all of the 3 is bled out you won't have the full temperature capacity of the 4. I have no idea how the temperature performance of a mixture varies with different proportions of 4 with 3, but when you see the 4 coming out of every bleeder you should be in pretty good shape.

I have my goodridge lines and may just have a shop do this. Should I buy the dot4 on my own and just bring in for them to use? Was quoted $128 so feel that's worth it
