Does this car have the ZL1 brake kit?

My guess is no, but a used car dealer selling the car says yes. This dealer is also not the most reputable dealer out there... Then again I am by no means an expert on Camaros, hence why I must ask you guys. I thought the ZL1 calipers would be bigger and also painted black.

No, it does not. The ZL1 caliper is 6 piston, larger, black, and has "ZL1" on it. That is the standard 4-piston 1LE caliper (which is the same as the SS caliper, only painted red).

Here's a link to it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ref_=pd_ybh_10

Awesome thank you. I think the lot that has this car is trying to take advantage of someone who doesn't know any better.

Yes the car has the full 1le package. Just nothing else. The salesman is trying to say it has the 1le AND brakes AND wheels/tires. Its all the same package, 1le, and only $3500 option. He is justifying their price by saying the 1le is $3500 and brakes are $4000 and the wheels/tires are another $3k, so over $10k in options. Its a load of bullshit.

Walk away from that one or get the managers attention. That's a load of crap.

Nope, I have them on my car (installed them myself):

Notice the 'bleeder' location and how far away from the top it is -- pretty clear those appear to be 1LE (or 2SS repainted). Also, you MUST have the rotors too -- these are '2' piece on the front along with the backing shield:

The backs are the same as the 2SS excepted painted 'black':

You can show him (or her) these images -- clearly, that salesperson does not have any idea...

GM ZL1 brake upgrade kit runs around 7200 list price.

p/n 22989384. Says it's for V-6 to ZL1 brake upgrade, but don't see why this wouldn't fit the SS as well, since you're pretty much replacing EVERYTHING.

Some places say this is the p/n for rear only, but others say it's front AND rear. For $7200 list price, I sure hope it's front and rear.

And that is why you don't buy from the GM parts catalog without looking around. Unless you like to spend 5x more money then needed. Although the cheapest ones I have seen on Amazon are actually the CTs-V brakes I'm sure the ZL1 can still be had for much less than the GM price.

CTSV's will fit -- many have done so. Hopefully, they come with the rotors as they are larger...

The upgrade for the V6 includes the master cylinder -- the 2SS already has the right one -- otherwise, you don't need to replace it on the V8...

GM pricing is crazy high...
