Clutch sticking again

So this is the second time we have had to take our baby in for the clutch sticking to the floor. This time my husband was going into second and the clutch stuck to the floor. The first time it happened they had to bleed the master cylinder which seemed to solve the problem. I don't know what to expect this time. After we picked it up the first time the clutch was firm like it should be in a new car, but now it seems soft again. Anyone else having this problem? The dealership said we are the only one's that they know of. The man that designed it called us last time and asked a million questions because he had not heard of the problem either. Hope it is nothing major!! Looking forward to meet and greet Oct. 3.

Have you been running it hard at all after the first time in the garage? they may need to flush and change the brake fluid. That helped my dads corvette.

We have 5100 miles on it and we drive it like it was meant to be driven. We love to just drive it and enjoy it, but we do also love to get the speed also. The dealership keeps telling me it was built to be driven hard. We have that covered!! We can get it to 95 and not even realize we are doing that fast!! That's why we love it!!

Is the car modded?

A $hit ton of 4th gens that are modded experience this problem. Mine did it when I switched to long tubes. The heat boils the clutch fluid and leaves the slave dry so the pedal has no fluid to push it back up. Hence why when you pull it up it works normal again. Mine did this even after wrapping my headers and the hydraulic line. Im not saying this is your problem, but theres a good chance it is.

this has been a proven problem in corvettes that are run hard. the camaro has the same setup. Have them flush and refill the brake system.

friend of mine who goes to the track every week was making a run when the same thing happened to his clutch. He had run time after time without a break. After he shut it down for awhile it all went well after that. He flushed the fluid the next day and it was good to go. Make sure you flush it with GM- 88958860. It is for the 2010 camaro's don't just go to an auto store and pick up dot-4 brake fluid.

Kathy-

I just put mine in the shop today for the same thing. My question is does the warranty cover it?

We have had it in twice but they coulnd't get it to stick the second time we brought it in and Yes it is under warranty. The first time we brought it in, the mechanic got it to stick and they bled the master cylinder. The clutch seems soft again to us, but the service manager says it is perfect. I drove the car with him in it and had another problem. The skip shift happened when I was at 38mph. It has only done the 1-4 shift when going under 20. He didn't know what to say or do about that problem. They gave us the car back and said that it is perfect. The man that designed the clutch called us after the first time in the shop because they said we were the only one that had the problem.

Combined with the Motul RBF 600 Dot 4 fluid that I put in the entire brake system (it boils at 200 degrees higher than the stock fluid and compresses alot less) The break pedal is alot firmer now.

I separated my brake and clutch systems just like 2SSRS did. Now when I flush out my clutch fluid, it takes only a couple of ounces of fluid. Instead of changing the entire brake reservoir, which takes a whole bottle of fluid.
The Motul RBF 600 Dot4 fluid works great in both the brake system and clutch system. it has a lot firmer pedal feel and boils at a lot higher temp than any other Dot3 or Dot4 fluids. It is also compatible with other Dot3 and 4 fluids, so if you don't get all the old out, it won't hurt anything.
This works best if the entire brake system is flushed with the Motul. Which takes aprox 3- 500ml bottles to push it through the entire Anti-lock brake system and through both sides of all 4 calipers.

Here is a thread for how to isolate the clutch and brake system:

You don't need to get GM brake fluid. Just buy a high quality Dot3 or Dot4
fluid, and it will be compatible. The fluid that comes in the 2010 Camaros and Corvettes is Dot3, but Corvette is recommending that they switch to Dot4 fluid. It is compatible with Dot3 and can be mixed. Just don't use Dot5, as it is not compatible. Prestone makes a good Dot4 synthetic brake fluid that you can buy at Walmart and it is compatible and cheap.

Read the label and it will tell you what it is compatible with, if it doesn't say, then don't buy it.
