More B.S. insider info!!!
According to Road&Track, who attempts take a crack at solving the mystery, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro coupe and convertible will come in three trim levels including an LS, LT and SS. The LS trim will get a 3.5L V6 engine that produces 220-hp, while the LT trim will get a 3.6L V6 engine with direct-injection from the 2008 Cadillac CTS producing 304-hp.
The range-topper Chevrolet Camaro SS will be powered by a 6.2L LS3 V8 that produces up to 405-hp. The high-performance version of the Chevrolet Camaro convertible will get a 6.2L LSA that produces up to 500-hp. The unit will be an under-rated version of the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V engine. The Camaro SS models will also get 20-inch wheels with 4-piston Brembo brakes with P245/45zr Pirelli tires. With the gas-prices on the rise, the LS trims 3.5 liter V6 is expected to be replaced by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that also produces 220-hp. However that is still under consideration. Prices are expected to start in the mid $20,000 range hitting $40,000 for the SS model. The 3.5 is an antiquated engine design. It's already on it's way out.
Those of us who've been on this forum for a while will remember (and don't ask me to find the link to the thread because I'm too lazy) when Bob Lutz said they had thought about using the 3.5 as the base engine, but instead the 3.6 VVT will be the base engine now. In the future, the 2.2 ECOTEC turbo may enter at a point lower than the 3.6, but the 3.6 will be entry for right now. |

At least they're writing something about the car, right? Better than not much of anything.....or articles that take time to explain how the car was mistaken multiple times for a different, not-out-yet-but-more-highly-anticipated car (coughchallengercough).

I'd rather see the 260hp 2.0L turbo from the HHR SS/Solstice GXP/Cobalt SS etc over the 3.5L with only 220hp. more speculation to anger everyone. Do you think it's possible to sleep until August?

Where is the Z28?! What a crappy article. There is just no way in Heck GM would make Camaro with no Z28 option, top dog or not. More BS.

Look at the source: Road and CRACK.
As in smokin CRACK. Forty grand for a base Super Sport? Really? That's twenty grand more than the "supposed" base price V6! GM knows better, and R&T can kiss my ass.

I enjoy the coverage of the 5th Gen. in the magazines, but, take what you read "with a grain of salt".
Magazines and their writers don't intentionally mislead or provide misinformation, they're just speculating like the rest of us. I enjoy reading and collecting copies of magazines containing Camaro information. I just read what they report and come to my own conclusions.
