Wheel lock observations...help please

Hi ALL,

Wheel lock question...

I recently bought the Mcgard and sent them back and just installed the Gorilla type locks #61641. Here is what I notice with both- the stock lugs have the acorn edge at the bottom but a very wide taper to them. Both the McGard and even the Gorilla have narrow tapered acorn bottoms.

When I tighten the Gorilla the lug nut, looks like it is going through the hole in the rim and tightening on the bolt but appears not to making contact and pulling the rim in?

The GM lug with the wide tapered acorn end, screws in and through the hole BUT then you see the wide taper appearing to sit on the outside of the rim and pulling in the rim.

So the question is does the gorilla pull in the rim to the lug or is the lug nut just going through the rim role and tightening on the lug itself?

I have the same Gorilla's on mine and I've got a little over 2K miles on her with no problem whatsoever. I did notice the same thing when I was putting my locks on but if you look really close they do pull in the rims, just don't forget to re-tighten/check after a 100 miles or so!

Correct part number for the Gorilla locks is 71641N. Just found it on a google search.
