2010 Transformer with 7.0 liter engine authenticity?

So this past weekend I was having a couple of beers with friends, when a friend of mines new boyfriend showed me his 2010 Bumblebee Transformer edition. It was a sharp car, but it didn't look authentic to me. He said it was 1 of only 60 built. It came with 7.0 liter engine, it had the transformer badges on the front fenders, wheel caps and inside door sills. But it didn't have the transformer badge or decal on the hood. The stripes were painted and went past the hood, it did have some "ghost" type styling in the stripes, but you really couldn't tell what it looked like in the daylight. He said it's pretty cool at night under the lights. Also it didn't have the transformer logo in the console lid, but it was embroidered into the head rest of the seats. Maybe the guy was telling the truth maybe he wasn't, could be something that a dealer done, but he was adamant about it being from the factory that way. Just wondering if anyone else has heard of this claim or seen a car like it. I'm not gonna call the guy out, but it doesn't add up to me.

That's pretty much what I thought, just wanted to be sure there wasn't some "phantom" car out there that I haven't heard of before.

It's possible, a 7L translates to a 427 which means that someone mechanically had engine work done to the original motor. If it sounded stock then there was probably too much alcohol involved in the story.

Well, 7.0 certainly wasn't an OEM option for the 2010 Camaro, but if it truly does have a 427 under the hood now, it would be easy to tell whether it's an LS7, or a bored out LS3. Ask for a look next time.

There are plenty of customizers for the Camaro who will buy a truckload or two to modify and sell.

Most do some powertrain/suspension and some interior/exterior.

Callaway, Lingenfelter, Nieman Marcus , etc.

So it could be an LS7, there are several versions of that motor available.

Just for the record, he did pop the hood but to be honest I couldn't tell if it was an LS7 or not because he had some tricked out engine covers that were yellow honeycomb where there would normally have some kind of LS7 badging on them, there were a couple of other neat details to it like transformer badging on the oil cap and some other places. It was definitely bigger than my LS99 on my wifes 14 SS. The motor took up damn near every inch of the engine bay.
He's an older guy with some money, he bought it off his friend that he said he's known forever and he's had his eye on the car since the day the his friend bought it. The guy built a new house and needed some money to help close on it, so he sold it to the old guy. I didn't think there was such a thing as a LS7 Transformer car, but whoever did the work did a pretty nice job if you're into the Transformers Camaro, personally not for me, but I still appreciate a big engine. I'm sure I'll run into him again and I'll try and snap some pix with my phone. (maybe the VIN, lol).

In the end, the 2010 Transformer Edition did not come with a 7 liter engine. He is either lying or gleefully ignorant.

Dizzy I agree. The next time I run across him I'll see if he commits one way or the other.
