I am seriously thinking about buying a 2LT/RS Camaro, and recently rented a 1LT for a day from AVIS to put it through its paces. I build 60's muscle cars for a hobby, and have built quite a few over the years. I have to say I am very impressed with how the car handled, and it took the mountain twists and turns like a pro, and got 25 mpg all the while I was driving it like I stole it.
I do have two questions and I hope someone can help with it. Before anyone gets on my case, I really liked the car and want to get one bad, but I need to figure out these two issues first. During the 24 hour test drive, and 300 miles later, I noticed that the seat cushion or lack thereof was getting to be uncomfortable, especially for the left leg. I am 6'1" and my wife is 5'11" and she had the same complaint. The car I rented was a 1LT with cloth seats, and the car that I am thinking of getting has Leather, is the seat cushion better with Leather than cloth? The second question has to do with the head rest. When it is fully down it hits the base of my neck, making my head tilt forward, and the only way I can drive is with it fully up, which is a drag, has anyone had the same problem? Thanks for your help, GearHeadPeter |

I never had the head rest problem, and cant answer about the differnce of cloth and leather, I have the leather and I am about 6 foot 180lbs, and without my wallet I dont mind it one bit, and I went on a 6 hour drive and was very happy.

I rented a 2SS leather and after a long drive with my wallet in my pants it did start to hurt. Never noticed the head rest but I never drive with my head back, never noticed the head rest on any car I guess my head tilts forward all the time.

Thanks for the input.
The problem I had with the seat was only at the drivers left front where it felt like there was hardly any padding. The headrest the way it cuts into the seat protrudes somewhat forward and I could not put my shoulders back into the seat unless I fully extended the headrest. The wife on the otherhand, even with the headrest fully extended, could not put her shoulders fully into the seat, but that might have more to do with the fact the seat does not adjust down like the drivers. |
