I just sold a 2009 Mazda 6 to make room for my Camaro that I'm awaiting delivery.

Let me tell you my story:

I bought the 2009 Mazda 6 because it was the perfect practical car: it looked good, it was fast, and it was roomy. I'm a big believer in participating in forums based on "stuff" that I appreciate so naturally I participated in the Mazda 6 forums. However every time I talked about my generation 2 Mazda 6 or posted pictures of my car, it was immediately berated by fans of the generation 1 who almost universally hated the generation 2 or they said it wasn't the "real" generation 2 - the "real" generation 2 was the European version according to them.

It really p!ssed me off. I enjoy being part of a community. I enjoy being accepted in a community. It really p!ssed me off that I couldn't go to a Mazda6 forum and rave about my car. I hated being treated like I had leprosy or something. Sure - I can understand that kind of treatment in a "Honda Accord" forum, but the hatred of the Gen2 Mazda 6 in the Mazda6 forum is astounding. If you can't get "love" in your own forum, then where are you going to get it?

I want to feel passionate about my car. I want to feel excited about my car. I used to be one of those practical people who felt that buying a nice looking car was about showing off. But I get it now. I totally get it. When you go to a social function, you don't dress up to look boring right? You dress up to look as terrific as you possibly can. I get it that driving a car is not about driving some boring Camcorder, it's about driving a car that does get appreciated. There's room in a family man's life to get the boring mini-van AND an exciting car too. After all - you don't want to take your Wife on a date in a boring minivan do you?

Anyway, I like that I can come to the Camaro forums and get acceptance, and I can rave on about my car and I can read about other people's cars and read other people's appreciation of other people's car. In this world of hatred, intolerance and injustice, it's nice to spend some time out of my day to just feel good amongst friends who have a shared appreciation in something. Know what I mean?

Yep, know what you mean. We might quibble a bit here from time to time, but I've never seen a member put down another generation of Camaro.

SURE DO, AND WELCOME, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.
