fuel injectors and pump limits

At what point (HP) will the stock injectors be insufficient? Same question for fuel pump, without a BAP, and then with a BAP? Going custom forced induction and need to know when to expect to hit the wall with each.

Forced induction??? You already need injectors/fuel pump

The stock fuel pump will handle well over 600 RWHP easily, but the injectors need to be increased with any forced induction.

WOW on that fuel pump....bad little suckers.. i replace them over 500rwhp but that's only because i don't like to push things, some call it overkill i just call it safer ..

The Stock pump should do about 600Whp in theory....BUT. What we have seen is that the pump at 90% Duty cycle is good to about 500Whp then it just cant keep up with the normal requested 58Psi.
We just turboed an L99 with a GT37R. We were able to maintain AFR's in the 10.7-11.4 range throughout the pull at 7.5 psi of boost. That made 579.6RWHP and 598RWTQ.
But that was with 65# injectors at 90% duty cycle and they have a delta pressure of 38...they should be 65 at 58psi fuel pressure and should not be anywhere near static (90%dc). Those injectors should be able to support at least 800whp if the 58PSI were maintained by the pump.

So if I go big enough with my injectors, I should be OK with the stock pump and no BAP? I just wont have the pressure the injectors are rated for. Any downside really? I like the thought of not using a BAP since I think it is bad for pump life.

IMO the injectors being static in order to keep up is not a good thing. They have no more to give, that being the case, if something were to happen where the fuel pressure dropped for some reason it can not be made up for by the injector duty cycle being opened longer. Also, like I said the Fuel pump is at 90% as well. so as far as pump life goes you have constant full load on it any time you are over 480+ HP. At the same time I have read threads where people are using a BAP and it is doing them some good (Keeps FP up 3-4 psi more than without it) and other threads where it is doing nothing for them. So I am still sorting through all of that as well. With the car I mentioned I think we are going to try a twin pump set up and see what happens. I figure 2 255LPH pumps working at 60-70% under full load is better than one working at 90% all the time. We will keep you updated.

Boost a pump. It adds voltage.

My '10 with a cam and header was pushing my comfort level with the factory pump and injectors at 480rwhp. Injectors were maxed out and fuel pressure was inconsistent. If you want to push it to 600rwhp your motor will not last long.

The last thing you want to do is starve the motor of fuel. Look at all the issues the Edlebroc SC's had with breaking the #7 piston due to fuel starvation..... Thanks but a good fuel pump and injectors are a hell of a lot cheaper than a new motor.

I'm running 80 lb injectors with the stock pump. 5-6 psi you will be ok. I noticed a couple times at or above 7psi it started to lean out a little. I'm going to drop in a zl1 pump and be done

Those 80lb injectors are bored.

This

Last thing I want to do is lose a motor. Failures are going to happen when it comes to power, more power, more stress. But I would rather have small failures that are manageable to fix, then to loose my motor over fuel issues. I think one day when I go forged, I will crank up the boost and see how long it lasts, but thats when I am ready to drop in a new package and have the money set aside for it to happen.
