Production Date

Not sure if this is true, and Scott is really the only one I would trust with this sort of information, but I seem to have heard or read something in the last few days that Oshawa has actually been fully staffed and 100% functional for 2 months. Along with that, production will be up to full capacity by the end of October of this year, with units ready to sell in November. I also remember hearing all dealers will have plentifull allocations, not just one or two trickling in untill next year sometime.

Am I full of mularchy or is this actually accurate?

Scott? Care to chime in on this?

Well according to the unveilling it was feb 16th. weither it's pushed up or pushed back due to issues or everything going great who knows. but as of today production date is FEB 16th.

Also on that note they will build several cars between now and nov for the big wigs to drive home eval and return. then after they will fix any production issues that they can and on FEB 16th they will start producing cars. the first 500 will be gone over with a fine tooth brush to make sure nothing is wrong. after that expect 2 - 4 weeks for delievery to dealers. . .so if issues arise anywhere along those lines it will be pushed back. . .

2/16 is the target date for SORP. (Start of regular production)... and based on a conf call the focus group had with Cheryl, John, and Scott last week, I dont think Peper was supposed to say that.

Orders will be accepted starting this fall. That will all be explained on the IDL session tomorrow for the dealers.

Read between the lines: orders start next fall. But like you said, you wouldn't be able to order anything without prices, right?.................so....prices should be expected to come out this fall.

He's right. I would expect the Chevrolet website to allow us to build a Camaro within three months.

we'll be building 'non-saleables' in October -- and 'saleables' in November -- the 'saleables' are part of our 'captive test fleet' -- where we give the cars a final shakedown to ensure that every component is what it should be -- there are hundreds of these cars -- and most are 'retrofitted' at some point and then are sold as used divisional company cars.

Start of 'Regular production" is in February of 2009.....

The lines are not staffed yet. The volentary layoff's which people took last Dec, wont be back till this Sept to the new flex line. Scott is on the money as usual about production dates.

According to my experience with the Saturn Sky This is right on track. So anyone that wants to dispute your timetable I will back you up 100%.
Also, as I was told by someone on the inside on the Sky production, that any problems that crop up can change this schedule. Mainly because this is a very high profile car and GM wants to get it right before releasing it to the public for sale.

I estimate that dealers will start taking orders in late September or early October. this also is based on my 2007 Sky experience, I put my order in mid October 2005 , the car was delivered in March 2006.
