Burning smell coming out of the engine?

Hey guys... Drove the 2SS Camaro today and after about 5 minutes of some aggressive driving , a weird smell started coming out of the engine... as if something had burnt in the engine. The test vehicle that I drove also had this.

Anyone know what this is? Is this part of the "break in" process?

Is it a stick?

I think there are usually some break in smells for the first few couple hundred miles.

could it be that the oil is in the combustion chamber, that's probably not the case tho

Yes It is a stick shift.

I found this while doing a search:

I hope it is not the clutch... that's gonna be expensive to replace within the first year!

Well generally people burn the clutch a little bit when getting used to how it grabs, unless the cars doing something crazy I wouldn't worry!

It's fairly normal for a brand new clutch to smell a bit when driven hard for the first time.

It's fairly normal for the engine and drivetrain to emit some wierd smells and fumes for the first couple hundred kms. After that then i would be worried.

The smell is all the anti corrosion chemical coatings on all the external parts ie. exhaust and headers. It has to burn off. Its applied to the parts after manufacture in order to prevent corrosion while stored, shipped and then attached to whatever vehicle.
