Is it Time To Settle?

Heres my situation, i'm 17, and i want a new SS more then anything. I am saving, as much as i can and doing odd jobs to get even more money. The problem is the car is really not cheap so its going to be a while (years) before i can buy one. So now i'm wondering...is it time to settle, maybe for a used bmw, or another decent car. So my question...Do i settle? or Is this car really worth dealing with a 99 Subaru wagon and working my a$$ off? Thanks

*EDIT*
I have a job as an architect apprentice, the odd jobs are on the side. Sorry i didnt make that clear

Settle. Odd jobs are going to help you save for a down payment. But are these odd jobs going to pay insurance, registration, gas, and monthly payments?

you are too young, not that you couldn't, but you need a steady job first. Odd jobs will not guarantee your monthly car payment.

You have to remember that saving for the car is only one part. You have gas (premium at $3.00/gal with 18 mpg), tires ($450-500) INSURANCE at 17 is not gonna be cheap. Doing odd jobs here are there probably isn't gonna be able to cut it. Monthly payments are gonna be somewhere near $500 bucks a month as well.

how much have you saved up so far? You should look at 2LT/RS package this is exactly like the 2SS but with the V-6. The V-6 is freakin fast dude. I think you should save up. Even though it may take you longer alot of things can happen between now and the amount of time it takes you to save up. another thing your insurance is going to be really high even on a beamer. and if it takes you a little longer then as you get older and you dont get any traffic violsations. Let me tell you this is the best freakin car I have ever had and I'm 38 and I have had a lot of new cars. But the way this car makes you feel when your in it is amazing. I feel so priveledged to be the owner of this magnifisent work of art. I have never felt this way about a car before. And the way that people look at it wherever you go. Not only that ,aybe after a year and a half or so your going to be able to get options that i'm not going to be able to have. It worth the wait

Try to see if your parents will help, thats how im getting it, if it wasnt for that then I would be stuck with my car I have right now till the 6th gen comes out. Don't feel like waiting 10 years.

Save save save. Save until you can buy it with cash. Some may disagree with me but I say, 17 or not, if you work hard enough for it, you will respect it and take care of it once you do own it. Just make sure you keep your head on straight once you get it. Good luck!

NEVER settle if it's something you really want. I would advise you very strongly to have patience, and save for the SS. It's more than worth the wait, if you really want it.

I have a couple of years to wait, as well...so I'm right there with ya'!

way to much power for a 17 year old, bought my son an 2007 mustang with a v6 and worried it was to much power for a 17 year old.you don't realize how fast you can get yourself in trouble with that much power.
