Has anyone driven in snow yet?

I'm looking to get winter tires and a lot of people have posted that they have already bought their winter tires mostly from tirerack.com. I haven't really seen anyone post that they have actually driven in snowy/icy conditions yet. Do the 20in pirelli scorpion snow and ice tires really work well in snow and ice? To me it doesn't look like their tread would be all that great. Are their any other tires that have driven well in snow? Thanks for any feedback.

I have posted this a couple of times, but I have the Pirelli Ice/Snow 18s. We had 10 inches of snow and a ice storm last weekend. I've driven everyday without any problems, even passed a fish-tailin' Toyota Tundra! Do I endorse them, absolutely!

i tried to park my car in the garage with 4 inch of snow on the ground... it took me 30 mins to park it. i had to get out and shovel the drive way clear of any snow before i can even move an inch. the car would just spin the tires when i try to move forward. its not fun. i have a 2ss so i cant even fit 18s on it.

You can fit 18's on it. Plenty of people have check out all the other winter tire threads. Not "all" 18's will clear the calipers... but theres quite a few that will....

check out the tirerack website... fill out your car just as normal... 2010 camaro SS / RS etc.... then click "winter" just below those pull down menu's... and click 18 packages.

I bought a set of 18's from tire rack, on my SS and they fit over the brembos just fine, Taction is great and they are a ton lighter than the OEM rims.
They look pretty good too.
With sensors they were $1450.00
Good year tires, I have to get some pics posted.
I would never drive in the Winter without snowtires (NOT all seasons)
This car is a lot of fun in the snow.

Drove in the snow about an inch and a half on unplowed roads. I have Blizzack 18s on my SS

I just got home from driving in the snow...ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!! There was less than an inch on the ground and it is still falling. 25 degrees. I almost lost the car about 10 different times. The slightest touch of the brake and ABS would kick on making the car beginning to slide sideways, and taking off was just as bad. I couldn't go over 25mph and it took me 15+ seconds to stop the car going 25mph. I highly suggest not to drive in the snow with the perrellis.

Hands down better than the FWD Honda Accord Coupe.(it would not get up our driveway without trouble)

Th 18 Winter Force with TC and LSD are great. Car is a little low for any plowed heaps the city leaves behind on curbs.

Here's my report posted on the mid atlantic thread:
"I went out Sunday and Monday and Today (back to work). Charles county really dropped the ball plowing my subdivision and the secondary road. Only plowed once Saturday night, no salt. Spent two hours Sunday shoveling and helping a 350Z and an Expedition back out of their parking slots. Then I made a short trip to the grocery store and Best Buy. Looks like none of the secondary roads were plowed more than once and none treated that I can tell. All the side roads were covered with about 3 inches of impacted snow. 301 was okay though.

I took it extreamly slowly, had no choice really, the ice was intensly rough and the SS supension was bouncing me all over the place. Yet I never really had any traction problems except a short spell getting out of Best Buy's exit back on to 301. Got stuck there for a few minutes but was able to rock my way out.

Near Andrews today, Malcolm road was really bad and I should not have tried it. Again, covered in rough ice and Bumblebee was bouncing so much that this was the only time where I felt her trying to fishtail on me.

All and all, the fear of the summer tires seems to be a bit overstated. I had no problems fishtailing, stopping, or coming off a standing start (except for that best buy exit). But, slow and steady is the key - on that Malcolm road exit I was only going 7 MPH till I got back on the pavement. " I should point out that this was packed snow which, though not plowed, MAY have been treated - but I doubt it cause it hadn't melted.

This was the most snow S. MD has seen in many a year and so far, knock on wood, my SS (w/summer tires) has given me less fear than my FWD Focus wagon or my RWD Astro van. I rode the van into a ditch getting down my old house's very steep driveway and my Focus slid almost 90 degrees coming to a stop from 5 MPH in much less snow than this.

I have the pirelli snow and ice on a set of factory 20's, expensive but worth it. Havnt had it in deep snow yet but had about two inches of snow this morning and it handled exceptionally.

I have the Yokohama Prada X all seasons on now. We just had 27 inches of snow in central Long island. So far, they have been great. I am not pushing any land speed records because it will let go if you push it in areas where they did not plow so well.

My only issue is all the salt/sand on my baby.
