Dry vs Oiled?

So I've already searched the forum (maybe not hard enough) to see what the thoughts are on this question. I'm already sold on the rotobab setup (most discussions were about the different brands) but I'm being a penny pincher on the dry vs oiled filter. I know in the big scheme of things its not that big of a deal ($20 difference) but I did see a lot of people going to the dry filters. Are you seeing any difference in gains or is it just a preference?

i was on the fence about this as well but ended up going with the dry mainly for looks. there can be issues with a over oiled filter messing up your maf sensor but i don't think there's really any big hp difference between the two.

I had both oiled and dry in my Roto-Fab, and there is no meaningful power difference, at least not on the SS. The dry filter looks a bit better to me, and as Vince said, it is possible to mess up the wet filter by excessive oiling, but that's it.

Wiggy, how do you like your 2022 1ss? Looking at a 2SS since I just sold my C7 and sold my 16 SS last year.

For those of you who have the dry filters, how do you clean them? I ask because I've always used the oiled filters ever since K&N first came out in the way back. Curious if you can get them wet without causing damage or if they are even serviceable at all. With my oiled filters I soak them in citrus cleaner, then soak in a 5 gallon bucket of hot water for half an hour, rise off under hot water, throw it in the oven at 200 for a couple of hours (the wife loves that) then spray on a light coat of oil. I have one filter with well over 100k on it and it looks perfect.

Ah, that's nothing! When I painted the caps on my rotors (to match my black wheels), my wife was the one who suggested I put these in the oven to bake on the high temp caliper paint...

To clean the RF dry filter, I take it off, use compressed air to blow the dust out from the inside, and go over it with my shop vac to extract anything else left in the fold creases. Seems to work for me. Anyone have a better solution?

I've always had K&N wet filters on my previous cars, so this is my first dry filter.

Not sure about all dry filters but my son runs one that has a cleaning solution. You basically do what BrianL said but then you spray on the cleaner, let it sit, lightly hose it off, and then let it dry.
