Side Marker "Whiteout"

Thought I would try to get creative. I originally tried to recreate the concept look by leaving a slit on the marker lights. After the first light I tested them out and discovered that you could see through the viynl.

So I covered the whole light and I think I like it. This would prob only work on a the white cars though.

Would like opinions.

With lights on and off in my garage.

I'll get pictures of the entire car in the morning (while it's dark) and at work under the full AZ sun.

I'm skeptical...

WIll prob just end up with the tinted stuff.

Can you stand further back and take a pic?
I think that would give us a better look

Going on a 15+ Gen5 Camaro run from PHX to Tucson on Sat. I'm sure I'll get plenty of in-person feedback.

Will def take pictures tomorrow to get a feel for it.

The only problem I've seen with doing any kind of film over the stock side markers is that the side markers have some raised lettering on them that creates a "bubble" in whatever film you try to lay over the marker, whether it's black or any other color.

That's why I can't wait for AAC's LED side markers, because they're making the outside face of the markers smooth, which will make mods like this look very clean.

Something about those darned raised lettering just gets to me.

But the white-out look definately makes the car look very clean. I'm surprised the light is visible through the vinyl.

Looks good

remove the side markers and sand the raised lettering smooth using #800 the #1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Then install your vinyl.

use an exacto knife to pop little holes around the raised letters then use some heat to shrink it closer. should conform to it with no problems

I have the blackout vinyl on my Summit White right now but have been thinking about color matching mine white as well. Looking forward to your other pics to get a better look at it.

I'm not sure what I think about it. I would def have to clean them up some as I did this in about 10 mins in my garage.

Have not seen them under sunlight though so this could look like crap.

Would like opinions. With lights on and off.

I would suggest cutting out a thin horizontal line in the vinyl. The vinyl will help the side markers blend into the car, and the thin opening will not only allow them to be functional, but will make it look more like the concept car's.
