Window Allignment Issues

Ok, a few weeks ago I get into my car and the driver side window actuator does not self adjust down or up when the door is opened then closed. I look at the digital info display and it has a message to roll the window down all the way then roll it up again. Then it says to do the same process with the passenger side window. After doing that It self adjusts again and no problem till yesterday. I get the same response on the display and the widow does not work properly. Well, I do the directions it gives and no luck, FAIL. Window will not self adjust or auto roll up and message will not go away. After attempting it several times with no luck I give up and stop by the dealer to ask a Tech for help. He does some research with GM online and fids a reported issue about this with other Camaro's. The Info says to push both window controls down till the windows are all the way down and continue to hold the buttons for three seconds, then immediately pull the buttons up and hold them in the up position for three seconds. This will allow the window memory to readjust and reset itself. The tech told me that it says a fix is on the way because it is a reported software issue and for me to check back at a later time because more than likely no info will be sent from GM making customers aware of the issue or a fix when it is done. Just thought I would post in case others have had a similar instance.

Thanks, but you don't have to go through all that. Just do what the dealer said and it should self adjust that way. No need to take the trunk apart and disconnect the battery because you will have to do the window alignment anyway when it looses memory.

I just installed my footwell lights today so I disconnected the battery. When I hooked the battery back up my window was stuck in the down position. I ended up doing something of a variation of what you said and finally it started working. I made a couple of calls to the dealer who was clueless on what to do. I wish I had read this before today. Good information!!

I don't care about a little wind noise, the 4th gens were fine with their window configuration... this window indexing has gotta be more trouble than it's worth. An answer to a question no one asked.

I have been having this issue also and have reprogrammed the indexing several times. Now my window sometimes won't even work and then a couple hours later it will work. and then it will prompt me to reprogam the window indexing. Should I disconnect the battery to see if that will help with the windows not working from time to time?

Well there is now a revised PI (3/19/10) on this indexing issue. There are new regulator/motor assemblies that will need to be installed. Just talk to your dealer and mention "PIC5264B".

I jsut had PIC5264B done and my window is finally working correctly. Well it has been for the last two days. They had to change the weather stripping out too.
