U-haul trialer hitch

Has anyone got a trailer hitch installed bu u-haul? They said it would be 183 installed, w/o the ligths or ball. Its a class one hitch that can tow up to 2000 lbs.

I need it to tow my dirt bikes.

I believe there was another thread running around here about it. Or maybe it was an actual GM tow-package that was supposed to be available for the car.

Sure, why not waste money on an extra vehicle that serves only one purpose.. Not everyone can do that, nor does everyone have a place to park it.

I say go for the hitch if you need one for your activities. The car can certainly handle towing a small load.

Ummmm.....NO! How about buying a used truck to use for towing, don't see that as a waste of money plus a truck can handle off roading like gravel, rock, and dirt roads carry bigger loads in the back. Hmmmmmmm??? I still don't see that as a waste of money

Used trucks still cost money, and require someplace to park them. He didnt say he was going offroad with this Camaro, just that he needed to tow his bikes. I definitely wouldnt be going on dirt roads with my car but I see no reason it couldnt be used to tow a trailer or bike rack if needed.

I dirt bike also, but I would NEVER tow them with my camaro, I mean you could cetainly find a beater truck, it doesnt have to look good while your driving, I mean who cares what other people think, you know you have the hottest car out their sitting in your garage. Also to get to most of the places to ride your dirtbike,DOES require a little bit of off-roading, so I would not reccomend towing with your camaro.

I already own a nissan titan, but my girl drives it. I tried teaching her to drive stick in my car, but it just didnt work out. So i need a way to transport my bikes to the track when shes working.

Buying another truck is stupid, unless your rich. All the tracks where i ride have nice parking lots. So a trailer with my car will be perfect.

All i was asking is if someone has actualy had a hitch installed by U-haul? I know without a doubt a camaro can tow a couple 200 hundred pound dirt bikes. My mom use to have a shity ford temp (4 cyl.) that we used. lol

If you're just asking about the fairness of the price, it cost me about that much to have them put one on my Civic. I am worried about your intended use, though. I used mine for a bicycle rack. Is there a tow rating for the Camaro? You have to be careful about not pulling the unibody structure out of shape.

There's a big section on towing in the owner's manual. Highlights: 1,000 lbs max, do not tow during the vehicles first 1,000 miles, don't exceed 50 MPH for the first 500 of towing, don't floor it.

OP, a better question is HOW do you intended on attaching a hitch?

The Camaro does not have a typical frame to attach the hitch to like other vehicles. Towing in the Camaro could very well cause structural damage and the costs of repairs could be more then the cost of another vehicle. The pre-production cars seen with hitchs was custom built for the capability to tow. Just food for thought.
