Does anyone make a 5 point seatbelt harness for the 2010 Camaro?
And what kind of modifications are involved with installing one?
I'm thinking it will help out on roadcourse track days.

I haven't seen a harness on here myself, that doesn't mean there isn't. But I got one of the CG Locks for my seatbelt. It helped a lot with autocrossing. Definitely not a harness but better than nothing.

I have done a fair amount of research on proper use of racing seatbelts, and here are some points I have picked up. I'm not an expert and maybe paranoid...so take this for what it's worth.

1) You need a different set of seats that are made for harnesses. They would include holes for the shoulder straps, and a hole in the bottom for the crotch strap.

2) The seat should be fixed-back. A hinged seat has a chance to snap and you won't find one approved by the FIA.

3) To properly mount the shoulder straps, they should be connected to a harness bar for 2 reasons. 1) Minimizes the length of the straps, and thus the stretch they undergo in an accident. 2) if the shoulder mounting points create a steep angle of the strap, it creates forces on your body during an accident that tend to pull you down, which is undue stress on your body.

4) Depending on if you assume the roof of a 2010 camaro is stiff enough for a rollover in a racing situation, a 4-5 point system may be a liability if you don't have a rollbar or cage. This is because the harness forces you to sit upright during a crash, which potentially means you will be crushed in a rollover. With a standard 3pt, it allows you to bend at the waist away from the roof.

These are just some things to consider.

You really need specific racing seats, a harness bar or roll bar and probably a 6 point harness system. Lots of companies make racing seats like Recaro, Sparco & etc. There is a lot of information on their web sites.
If you are only going to do an occasional track day, stick with the seats you have now. If you do 5 or more events a year (very addictive once you start) it may be practical. Sometimes racing seats are not the most comfortable or easiest to get in and out of.

schroth used to make a quickfit that i used on my BMW's that were fantastic... wish they stepped outside of the imports a bit

The CG locks are OK but I still slid around. The harness bar is from Speedware Motorsports (Tony Pletcher 425-869-5680), and the belts are Schroth 6-point Hybrid II

By the way. If you plan on tracking the Camaro you may want to do some prep work:

I melted Hawk HP Plus pad, just ordered Hawk DTC-3o for 10/23 track weekend.
I also set my alignment to:
Front camber -1.4degrees
Front Toe IN .06 Left and Right
Rear Toe IN .15 Left and Right

you can use a 6 point harness and mount the bottom sub straps behind the drivers seat, and pass them between the bottom and back sections of the seat (so, basically you are sitting on the sub straps.

You will either need a floor mount shoulder strap or the speedware harness bar.
