Flying wood (shattered headlight cover)

So I was driving down the highway and a few pieces of particle board got kicked up into my grill and this was the result. I contacted the dealer and they told me that they didn't have just the plastic cover and that I'd have to buy a whole new headlight assembly ($800 - $700 online). Any ideas as to where I could find just the plastic piece that broke?

You are going to probably have to replace the entire assembly...GMPartDirect price for the entire assembly is under 600 (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/catalog/frameset.cfm)

You can't buy just the lens, there's not even a part number for it. It is a sold as a unit so you have to buy the whole assembly to replace it.

You could try looking for anyone that might have melted the housing but not the lens when they stuck theirs in the oven to try and install the AAC halos themselves

My fear is, if someone screwed up their housing(s) that bad, they probably just chunked them.

Good luck though

Might I suggest you go ahead and purchase a whole new housing to fix your problem, but keep the busted one and you may be able to do the inverse. Get on ebay and sell it as is.

Or at the very least, maybe the guys at AAC would like to have an extra sitting around, "just in case."

Is the HID still in working condition, if so you can buy just the assembly for $130, if not you can buy just the assembly then install AAC dual halos!!!

I work for an insurance company and if it was a flying object then your insurance will count it as a not at fault accident and should not increase your premiums in the future. Now it just depends on the total cost for replacement and installation by your dealer so if say your deductible is $500.00 I would report it and get it fixed with limited expense and no hassle to you! Hope this helps!
