When to shift in V6 manual?

At what RPM is it best to shift from 1st to 2nd? Often I shift into 2nd and find myself jerked forward with extra torque, leading me to believe that I was in 1st for too long, or maybe I did not shift correctly

I go to 3k and shift to second. For fun, sweep it to 5k and you'll know what torque is, lol! 2500 to 3k usually.

I'm not an expert but....it seems to me like you are letting off the throttle entirely for a moment than shifting, then releasing the clutch without applying the throttle again. You need to work on matching the engine rpm's with the throttle on the upshift ...or downshift for that matter to eliminate the herky jerky.

Say you're in first and go to 5,500 rpm and you're going to shift to second. In order to have a smooth transition you'll need to bring the rpms to say 3500 or so. If you let off the throttle and let the rpms dip way down when you shift, then engage the clutch the car will jerk (sometimes violently) because it's being slowed by the engine rpm's....

Same thing on the downshift....you're heading into a turn and are going to take it in 2nd gear...generally before you engage the clutch you'll need to blip the throttle or maybe even heel/toe it (brake and throttle at the same time) to get the engine rpms where they should be for 2nd gear when you engage the clutch...

Hope I explained that clearly enough...basically it's making sure on the shifts the engine rpm's are at the correct level before you engage the clutch...gotta play with it some to get an idea...but that is the fun part....
