Exclamation Bad paint job

I just purchased a Yellow 2010 Camaro 1SS/RS. For the most part we are in love with the car. We purchased it at night and the paint was pretty good on the exterior sides. I wasn't able to look at the car really closely during the day until a couple of weeks passed. I really didnt even think that I would have to be concerned since it was a 35k new car.
I discovered that the bottom of the hood, wells under the hood, bottom of the trunk, wells around the trunk, and the door jambs,(especiall in the hing areas) look as though they got a 3/4 paint job with several very light or entirely missed spots with the yellow. I am assuming the base coat for this car was green to acheive the desired yellow becuase green is the color that is showing through in the problem areas.
I work for a high end house painting company and we would never get away with such a weak paint job nor would we want to.
I have decided to take it to the dealer to have this addressed if possible. I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem and if it was resolved. I would also like to know if anyone thinks I will or will not get anywhere with this and why?

I remember people talking about imperfections in the yellow paint but not missed spots. I'd bring it back without a doubt. Do you have pictures of the problem areas?

The green is ELPO, dont remove it. take it up with your dealer. there was issues with the yellow paint, it has since been corrected, you may have got one of the "issue" camaros.

That's what happens when you replace humans with Robots. All the human sprayers have been eliminated and replaced by machines.

I also tend to think this is more of a yellow paint problem.

Ok, mine is the same way. I don't know what you are complaining about to be honest. Not too many cars that I have seen come fulling painted and clear coated under the hood and in the engine bay and trunk area.

I just took some pics but my camera isnt being read by my laptop for some reason. I took the car to the dealer today and the service writer as well as the service manager reacted the same way I did. They couldnt believe it. I am sure its a yellow problem. With most colors I am guessing the primer color is the same as the finish. I dont really care about clear coat under the hood but it needs to be the right color especially where easily visible.
The service manager said to take the car to their paint guy and it would be warranty.
The paint guy said its going to be a pretty bid job since he will need to remove the hood, doors, trunk lid and back bumper to get to all of the thin areas. This would have taken probably less than 5 to 10 extra minutes to just do it right the first time and now its going to take a paint shop a week!
I am having this done because eventually I want to take the car to shows after I am done. Also, I can't imagine trying to sell it down the road and having to anwser why didn't I take this back and get it taken care of?
Check back tommorow and I should have some pics of the problem areas. Thanks for the feedback!

Think I might have a couple little spots like this under the hood and maybe trunk. Will have to look into it. Never really thought much of it.

If it's in the spots I think you're trying to describe...it's not a weak paint job...it's standard practice of saving money by not painting spots that don't need it because they've already been coated with chemicals to prevent corrosion and few if any people will see the spots they do this in. You'll find this in nearly every new car.....that's IF this is in the spots I think it is.

That said...even if it is a mix-up...GM's not a high-end painting company, they are a broad-spectrum car company that needs to do well in all areas and "exceptional" in none (even though they do...). Just my .02 on that little comment.

Yep...in fact, if you've ever seen one of the painting robots programmed...it's programmed based on a human painter's motions. They actually hook the guy up with some motion sensors on his arm to record position data. Pretty neat stuff, if you ask me.
