Question about Short Throw Shifter
I am considering putting an aftermarket short throw shifter on my 2SS and have seen a lot of the Hurst shifters for sale. Is there a reason that so many people take them off?
I am considering the MGW shifter as this will be for daily driving only and not for competition. Appreciate any opinions and comments.

I've never felt the Hurst shifter for these cars... but have for others.
And I have felt the MGW shifter for these cars. Needless to say, sometime in the next week or so, I will be purchasing the MGW shifter. I liked it a lot

MTI shifter. Shorter throws without the "notchy mechanical feel". The MTI unit is solid and does not increase shifting effort. I kept the stock knob and along with the MTI sway bars consider MTI products the best mods I've done to my car. Ed M.

Thanks for the replies. I know that Hurst makes good stuff and has been around years, so I am not questioning their quality, just looking for some subjective opinions of the different shifters available for the Camaro.

MGW all the way. I had it on my 04 cobra and now this car ! .. You won't be dissapointed! IMO I liked it better than the hurst, Pro 5.0, and Steed Triax (on the 04 cobra) .. I knew what I was going to get when I got the camaro)

If you see a lot of Hurst shifters being bought and then re-sold, it kind of speaks for itself but on the other hand it may just be a numbers game.
If you ask the sellers the question, the sellers are not likely to say anything bad about the items they are trying to sell. It would be counter productive to selling the shifter they do not want to own anymore so nobody will have a bad thing to say about them. BUT - If you like it, you would not want to sell it. Lots of shifters sold and some of them are bound to end up available for resale just because there are so many out there. I have the MGW for some time and it is not for sale. ![]() -Mark. |

I have a MGW shifter. It is smooth and precise. George built a great shifter. I've owned many different shifters through the years and this is by far the best one I've owned.

I love my MGW. I was worried it would be too high effort, but it turned out perfect. The quality is second to none.
If you don't like the "notchy mechanical feel" that flht99b mentioned, then you probably won't like the MGW. |

I've got a question, not to thread jack, but what is the advantage of buying one of these? And how difficult are they to install?
