Permanently keep DRL's on

Hi, I just brought a U.S. 2010 camaro to canada. In order to pass inspection, the day time running lights must remain on at all times while the car is running. currently there is a switch to turn the DRl's off, how can i disable this switch to keep the DRL's on at all times?

addtitional information: the car trim is RS SS

thanks in advance

There are some threads on here about this subject for the RS models look under the DIY area you should find something easy.

Pop the switch out....it is just a friction fit.

Disconnect the green wire with white stripe. Go for your inspection.

Put it back on.

All non factory tint has to be removed from door and front glass.

Your done.

Alright, poped the switch out and i've got it down to just the connectors. I see which wire i need to disconnect but i am unfamiliar with how to pull the wire out of the "block". Do you just pull really hard to get it out? it seems very secure in there

I could cut the wire and solder it back up but i'd rather try keep things as clean as possible

Unless I missed something, your DRL will remain on when your car is running if your simply adjust your headlight setting to Auto. Mine are always on in auto mode. Sorry if I misunderstood.

I used a paperclip to release the pins for the GM door lamps. I'm thinking you could probably do the same thing.

Also let us know if this allows the daytime running lights to be on the same time as the halos.

You could cut the wire with space on both sides to put a male and female electrical fitting so u can connect and disconnect as needed with out needing to continuing to cut and splice everytime inspection time comes.

yes, the DRL's will automatically come on when the lights are on auto mode, but they can be turned off, which in turn is illegal in canada. they must remain on at all times without the possibility of them being turned off.

Just push a small screw driver in to release the wire inside the connecter..

This will only be inspected once.

okay that worked for getting the wire out. there wasn't actually a dark green and white striped wire, but i looked up the pinout and pulled a turquoise wire. now when the car is started the DRL's come on automatically, next position turns on only halo's and 3rd postion turns on halo's plus low/high beams. rotating the switch to the left does nothing (the DRL's stay on)

now we'll see if the car passes inspection, thank you to everyone for your input

The US cars allow them to be turned off......While the car is in motion.

Ours are not built that way so if we import a US model the switch needs to be defeated.
