Hello, new guy with a couple of questions.
Hi, i'm new here and i'm looking to buy a 2010 1ss automatic. I see that the auto's are with the l99 and the manuals are ls3's. Basically, i want to do a complete exhaust and cam upgrade. I see lots of info on the Ls3's, but not much for the l99's. Also, i see there is an Ls3 conversion. What is involved with that? I'm not looking for an extreme power upgrade, but a noticable gain, maybe run in the mid 12's in the quarter. Sorry, i'm new here, any help appreciated.

Mid 12's? Thats too easy. Don't let the L99/LS3 thing hang you up, go with what best fills your needs and there are plenty of options to get you where you want to go. Open up the intake and exhaust, swap your cam, and get it tuned and you will be very pleased.

the L99 to LS3 conversion costs a ton! much better off going to a Kenne Bell, Maggie, Edelbrock( which im doing after my cam job) and edelbrock has a full powertrain warranty for the car for only $750!! and a nice set of longtubes, and catback setup. :-)

Thanks, I'd like to make decent power while not changing too much. Complete exhaust, Long tubes and tuning are a must. Finding the right cam that gives me the upgrade i want without having to completely switch over to an ls3 is what i want. I'm not trying to break records, just want a car that snaps and passes emissions, can it be achieved?

look up the vendors section.. many have several 'packages' that will give you an idea on what you can upgrade

If you are getting the Edelbrock, I hope you don't plan on getting the warranty. It would be useless for your application.

Call Matt at tune time in TomsRiver NJ. He has an SS l99 in the low 12's. He did my ls3 and I;m quite happy with the results.

if you havent bought the car yet, do some research on here, poke around and check everything out... i would have bought my car differently or ordered one if i would have found this site first!
